Trump 'Sucks The Oxygen Out Of The Room, Suffocating The Other Candidates,' Says 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad' Author Kiyosaki

Zinger Key Points
  • Trump still has a commanding lead of 52% in the Republican primary race, according to opinion polls.
  • Robert Kiyosaki says the former president has the ability to play the press like a puppet.

Former President Donald Trump's mugshot took the spotlight last week as he earned the dubious distinction of being the first former president who had his mugshot taken.

Robert Kiyosaki, who is famous for his best-selling book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad,” offered his take on the whole unsavory development.

What Happened: Trump may elicit mixed feelings among the people but his mugshot triggered a uniform reaction, said Kiyosaki. The former president faced his fourth indictment in the election subversion case in Georgia. On Friday, he surrendered at the Fulton County jail and was subjected to the usual formalities before he was released on a $200,000 bond.

“If you hate Trump you may love his mug shot. If you love Trump you love his mug shot,” Kiyosaki said, adding, “Trump sucks the oxygen out of the room, suffocating the other candidates.”

The best-selling author's comments may not be far from the truth. Data compiled by FiveThirtyEight based on nationwide polls by multiple agencies show that Trump still has a commanding lead of 52% in the Republican primary race. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is a distant second, has the support of 14.7% GOP voters.

Kiyosaki also said, “He [Trump] plays the press like puppets which the[y] they are.”

Why It's Important: Not everyone shares Kiyosaki's sentiment. Trump's niece Mary Trump said in a recent Substack post that the mugshot showed Trump’s “inability to keep himself from feeling the all-encompassing humiliation and abject terror … that keeps seeping up from his unconscious.”

“And, for what it’s worth, this was the worst day he has ever lived through—and it’s all downhill for him from there,” she added.

Billionaire investor George Soros said recently that he expects Trump to be found guilty at least in some cases, and will be in jail by Election Day in November 2024. He also warned of the U.S. plunging into a constitutional crisis if Trump is elected to office yet again.
