Reading the White Smoke From Jersey and New York: Does the GOP Have its Mojo Back?
Quite a bit of commentary that the GOP wins in Virginia and New Jersey represent some kind of referendum on Obama or even better or if the GOP has regained momentum. I think people are just anti incumbent and feel the current government is dysfunctional. Corzine was not a very good public servant and frankly he didn't seem to be working that hard for the people of New Jersey.
Virginia is a traditionally conservative state in any year and they tend to vote GOP almost no matter the political winds. We also have the rather odd house race in New York where where the candidate was viewed as not "conservative" enough.
I think it would be wrong for the GOP to take this as a sign that they have found their mojo once again. The GOP needs to return to its roots of small government, low taxes, individual liberty and no nation buildings. I think it's a mistake to assume that these victories mean the current leadership is working. The entrails of these few elections are too small for even a viking mystic to distill into truth.
Even last night on "V" the reptile aliens offered the people of the world "Universal Health Care" in exchange for offering sacrificial humans to replenish the extinguished food supply on their world. Oh wait-- did someone just compare Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi to alien reptiles?
The only way for the GOP to win is to abandon the religious and social extremism of the last decade and move back to its roots. I hope it does.
