In a report published by J.P. Morgan, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas has entered an order for lifting its stay of EchoStar's patent infringement suit against TiVo. The case has been ongoing since 2005, originally involving four different patents, but has been reduced to one patent in the recent case. This patent is for the Multimedia Direct Access Storage Device and Formatting Method. J.P. Morgan notes that it expects this case, if pursued by EchoStar, to be a “multiyear process involving a jury trial at the District Court level with an option for appeal”. TiVo's stock took a hit today, dropping 3.6%, and is currently trading at $10.44.
