There were concerns that
Microsoft CorporationMSFT
might
slow down the Internet
when it released Windows 10, which is available as a free upgrade to Windows 7 and Windows 8 users. Patrick Moorhead, president and principal analyst at
Moor Insights & Strategy
, has not seen any evidence that the new operating system has caused any problems. "If everyone upgraded at once, this could be a possibility, but this isn't the case," Moorhead told Benzinga. "Only the five million Insiders got the immediate upgrade." Moorhead said that Microsoft then moved onto other users who acknowledged their interest in upgrading. "Additionally, Microsoft is prioritizing systems that don't have known bugs in the hardware configuration," Moorhead added. "I am expecting the whole process to [take] weeks, if not months, for consumers."

Rob Enderle, principal analyst at Enderle Group, said the only complaints he has seen have been tied to the Windows Store, which he said was "very, very slow." "That's been an ongoing issue though," Enderle told Benzinga. "Mostly the updates were auto-downloaded after hours." Tech industry expert and analyst

said he has not seen any issues himself and believes it may be a "non-issue." "However, if it is an issue, I am sure Microsoft can fix any problems," Kagan told Benzinga. "We have to remember: anytime there is a totally new OS (like Windows 10), there are always potential problems."
Sean Udall
, CIO of Quantum Trading Strategies and author of The TechStrat Report, didn't seem overly concerned about any problems that Windows 10 could bring to the Internet. "It's not really material," Udall told Benzinga. "And [it] won't last long if [it is] true." For now Udall said he is not planning to upgrade because there are "too many privacy issues with it, even though it's a notable improvement." "I still prefer Windows 7 by a good margin," Udall added.
