Are you looking for healthcare and want a health insurance company that offers Medicare? Finding the right health insurance policy can be difficult, but Benzinga has made it easier by offering this CoverRight Medicare review. CoverRight takes the confusion out of enrolling in a health insurance plan that works with Medicare. Learn more about CoverRight Medicare and what it has to offer.

Who’s CoverRight Best Medicare For?

If you're 64+ and looking for health insurance as well as assistance in choosing the right Medicare plan, CoverRight is a great choice. Its direct-to-consumer model and use of technology make it easy for CoverRight's agent to recommend the best plan. And, they're committed to not upselling you on any products you don't need.

If you already have a plan with Medicare, keep in mind that you can only change Medicare Advantage plans and Part D plans (also known as Prescription Drug Plans or PDPs) at certain times of the year.

You may have additional enrollment opportunities in certain situations, like moving out of a plan’s service area. It never hurts to check with CoverRight to see if you can change plans and, if so, which plan options might work the best.

CoverRight Plan Options

CoverRight can help you decide which plan option is right for you. You may choose Original Medicare with a Medigap policy and/or Medicare Part D or a Medicare Advantage plan.

Original Medicare

Original Medicare has 2 parts: Medicare Parts A and B. In general, Medicare Part A covers hospital care and Part B covers other types of medical care, including doctor visits. On its own, Medicare doesn’t cover prescription drugs.

On its own, Medicare has significant out-of-pocket costs. For example, Part A has a deductible of almost $1,500 per benefit period for hospital stays. You can have multiple benefit periods in one year. Part B has a deductible of around $200, and after that, you pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for your care.

You can have Original Medicare on its own. Many Medicare members choose to have additional or alternative coverage, however.

Medicare Supplements

Medicare Supplemental insurance plans, also known as Medigap policies, pay after Original Medicare. These plans help with the deductibles, copays and coinsurance associated with Medicare.

The plans are standardized by letter, which means the plans have the same benefits no matter which company you purchase one from. Insurance companies can offer Plans A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, and N. Plans E, H, I and J are no longer available. Plan F and C is not available to anyone starting Medicare on or after January 1, 2020.

Even though the plans and benefits are the same, the prices vary. Plan G from one company may cost more or less than Plan G from another provider. This is why CoverRight can be helpful.

Medicare Part D

To get prescription drug benefits with Original Medicare, you’ll need to purchase a Part D plan, also known as a Prescription Drug Plan (PDP). Medicare Supplements don’t include prescription drug benefits. If you want drug coverage, you’ll need to purchase a PDP even if you buy a Medicare Supplement.

PDPs may have a monthly premium, an annual deductible, copays and coinsurance. Each plan has a formulary, which is a list of covered drugs. Drugs on the formulary are divided into tiers, and costs vary depending on which tier you’re in. CoverRight can help you find a PDP that’s a good fit for your prescription needs.

Medicare Advantage Plans

Medicare Advantage plans are an alternative to Original Medicare. Private insurance companies sell these plans, and you receive your Medicare Part A and B benefits through the plan. You may pay a monthly premium. Most plans offer additional benefits like vision, dental, hearing and fitness programs. Most also offer Part D benefits.

Medicare Advantage plans typically have copays, and you may pay a deductible as well. These plans may have a provider network. You may be required to see providers within the network or you may pay less if you see in-network providers.

CoverRight vs Competitors

CoverRight is similar to competitor sites in that it provides plans based, in part, on your location. What sets CoverRight apart is that it lets you shop plans on your own terms.

Unlike other, insurance ‘comparison’ websites that offer ‘free quotes’ with the stipulation that you must provide your phone number, you will never be contacted by CoverRight unless you specifically ask to be.  This avoids you getting your information gets sold to multiple parties, resulting in pushy salesmen calling you repeatedly.

In addition, CoverRight helps you match your doctors, drugs and other benefits you might be looking for looks at more than your location, helping you find the perfect plan for you.

CoverRight also has educational resources readily available to help you better understand your Medicare options.

CoverRight also sets itself apart from competitors by offering you a dedicated agent who helps you throughout the process. It also pledges to never sell your data.

CoverRight Overall Rating

You could spend hours researching Medigap policies, Medicare Advantage plans and PDPs and find one that’s right for you. Or you could save yourself hours and use CoverRight.

Its agents put customers first and are not incentivized to recommend 1 plan over another. Its policy of not selling your data ensures you won’t receive unwanted phone calls.

CoverRight can save you time and money while simplifying what is often a complicated process.

Medicare Part A covers inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing care, hospice care and some home health care. Medicare Part B covers other medically necessary services and preventive care.
