A spokesperson for Family Dollar FDO declined comment on a Sunday article in the Tennessean reporting that Dollar General DG could bid as much as $100 per share for the Matthews, NC-based retailer, according to a note from Credit Suisse.
The Family Dollar Spokesperson responded to Benzinga in an email: "We feel there is significant growth opportunity for Family Dollar, and our management team is focused on creating value for shareholders by executing our strategic plan."
Family Dollar was trading up over 1% on the report at $74.25
