Spotify, the music-streaming service that rivals

and others said on Tuesday that it will expand its corporate head-count by a third as the music service industry is thriving. Bloomberg reported that Spotify plans to increase its workforce by about 500 to 2,000 as the company continues to improve its software and expand to new countries. “Spotify is growing so fast,” Martin Lorentzon, co-founder and chairman of Spotify told Bloomberg. “We're expanding our New York and Stockholm offices to better take advantage of the potential in the market.” Paid subscribers to Spotify's streaming music service topped 12.5 million in November, up from 10 million in May. The increased demand for Spotify comes at a time when A-list artists like Taylor Swift engage in public feuds with the company.
Time Magazine
reported last week that Swift's label boss stated the pop-star had earned a mere $496,044 in royalties last year from Spotify. Spotify countered by stating that Swift could expect to receive as much as $6 million in royalties next year as the company continues to expand its audience. Swift has already terminated her relationship with Spotify and her songs are no longer available for streaming. Despite the back-and-forth between Swift and Spofity, the company believes it is on track to expand to 58 countries and forge closer relationships with

on top of a recent agreement forged with Uber Technologies. Spotify confirmed to Bloomberg there are no plans at the moment for an initial public offering or a sale of the company.
