AT&T To Hire 20,000 By The End Of The Decade

AT&T Inc. T revealed that it intended to hire an additional ten thousand veterans. That would take the total hiring of veterans to 20,000 by the end of the current decade. According to the company, the commitment was given at the Joining Forces event held at White House where over 50 other companies dedicated to hiring, as well as, training veterans and military spouses. A few years back in 2013, AT&T disclosed that it would hire 10,000 veterans within the next five years. The target was met at the end of 2015, i.e. well ahead of schedule. Now, the company was doubling the commitment and pledged to hire an additional 10,000 veterans by 2020. The telecom services provider's Chairman and CEO, Randall Stephenson, commented that "Military experience is great preparation for a successful career at AT&T. Veterans' leadership, integrity and commitment to service make them outstanding employees. We're proud to have added 10,000 of these men and women to our team since 2013, and we look forward to hiring another 10,000 by 2020." AT&T actively focused on recruiting veterans into career paths due to the experience and skills gained through military service were an invaluable contribution to the workforce. The company's President for Mississippi, Mayo Flynt, said that "AT&T learned long ago that bringing veterans into our workforce is a win-win. Our company benefits tremendously from the skills, character and leadership experience that veterans bring to jobs across the state. It's an honor for AT&T to hire veterans who are as excited as we are about the future of technology." The telecom firm said that once veterans were hired, it helped to ensure that they have the skills needed to grow their career and succeed as an employee in the ever-evolving technology landscape. The company added that its veterans' employee resource group served more than 9,000 members and created an instant community for veterans. Shares of the company traded 0.13% down on Thursday.
