Mark your calendar -- Apple Inc. AAPL sent out media invitations today regarding a likely iPhone 7 and 7 plus launch, to be held on September 7 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.
New iPhone releases are generally announced in early September, with the phone often coming out a few weeks after in late September.
The new iPhone is rumored to feature an improved camera, faster processor, improved water resistance, the removal of the headphone jack, and a pressure sensitive home button. A much needed minimum storage space expansion is also expected, from 16gb to 32gb.
The much anticipated event may highlight an second generation Apple Watch release as well, said to include "better waterproofing, an improved processor, and a built-in GPS chip" according to MacRumors.
Investors and consumers alike expecting radical changes in this years iPhone release may be disappointed, with many anticipating a big shift in iPhone technology in 2017's release which marks the 10-year anniversary of the initial iPhone launch.
Apple's stock was trading nearly flat on the day at $106.79.
