Stephanie Resnick of Fox Rothschild to be Honored with Philadelphia Bar Association’s Sandra Day O'Connor Award

Recognizing her more than two decades of service and dedication to the advancement of women in the legal profession, the Philadelphia Bar Association will honor Fox Rothschild Litigation Chair Stephanie Resnick with its prestigious Sandra Day O’Connor Award.

Named for the first woman justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, the award has been conferred annually since 1993 on a woman attorney who has achieved the highest degree of professional excellence in her field and has visibly used her position and stature in the community to mentor, promote and advance other women lawyers.

For 25 years, Resnick has been a committed and prominent member of the Philadelphia legal community and has had significant involvement in organizations involving women. She is a former chair of the board for Women’s Way, the nation’s oldest and largest women’s funding federation that raises public awareness of a variety of women’s issues.

Resnick currently serves as the Third Circuit Representative to the American Bar Association Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary. This prestigious 15-member standing committee evaluates candidates for the federal judiciary at the U.S. District, U.S. Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court levels. In addition Resnick has served on Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter's Advisory Task Force on Ethics and Campaign Finance Reform.

Resnick joins a prestigious list of prior award recipients, including many judges. Resnick will receive the O’Connor Award at the Association’s quarterly meeting to be held in June.

Named as one of the leading litigation attorneys in Pennsylvania by Chambers USA, Resnick concentrates her practice on all aspects of business litigation in state and federal courts. She represents and counsels individuals, corporations and boards of directors in directors' and officers' liability; misappropriation of trade secrets; health care/physician issues; employment-related litigation, including restrictive covenants; and defamation and media issues.

A leader in the firm, Resnick is a member of the Executive Committee, the firm's governing body, a member of the firm's Diversity Committee, e-Discovery Committee and former chair of the Partnership Advancement Committee.

Resnick has served as a leader on a number of committees in the legal community, including as co-chair of the Friends Committee of the National Association of Women Judges; a member of a merit selection panel to consider reappointment of a U.S. Magistrate Judge; former chair and former member of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Board of Governors; former chair of the Federal Courts Committee; former chair of the Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention; former chair of the Women’s Right Committee; and former Trustee of the Campaign for Qualified Judges.

An advocate for those in need, Resnick provides pro bono legal work on behalf of the Support Center for Child Advocates and volunteers for numerous other nonprofit organizations. She frequently presents on litigation strategy, ethics, hot topics in business law, insurance issues, e-discovery and its implications and professional development.

For five consecutive years, Resnick has been selected as one of the “Top 50 Women Lawyers in Pennsylvania” by Philadelphia Magazine and Law & Politics Magazine. In 2009, she was named one of the "Top 100 Lawyers in Pennsylvania" and the "Top 100 Lawyers in Philadelphia" by Philadelphia Magazine and Law & Politics Magazine, and was given the Women of Distinction Award by the Philadelphia Business Journal in 2004.

Resnick earned her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 1984 and her A.B. from Kenyon College in 1981.
