WARREN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

AdvantEdge Healthcare Solutions, one of the nation's leading providers of medical billing, practice management, and coding services for specialty physicians, hospitals, and surgery centers, has acquired Medrium, Inc. Medrium and its predecessor company Professional Associates are Delaware-based medical billing and practice management companies that have been in business for more than 30 years providing services primarily to ambulance and emergency medicine practices. This represents AdvantEdge's second acquisition this year and the seventh in the past five years.

“Medrium is a perfect fit for AdvantEdge, as the acquisition expands our footprint both geographically and within the emergency medicine and emergency transport (ambulance and rescue services) markets—all important growth areas for us,” said David Langsam, President and CEO of AdvantEdge. “This acquisition will help us serve the financial needs of a greater number and variety of medical professionals, and increase our market share in the Mid-Atlantic states, enabling even more physicians, hospitals, and surgery centers to focus on patient care. Medrium has served a dozen important emergency medicine practices, nearly 50 ambulance and rescue services, and a number of other specialty practices. As these clients avail themselves of the AdvantEdge systems, they will benefit from our advanced technologies that are saving medical practices time and money. In addition, with the InfoEdge dashboard, they will have access to practice financial data anytime, anywhere.”

The Medrium team of 50 coding and billing experts joined AdvantEdge in April 2012. This team boasts an average of more than 12 years of service and is led by Maryann Kirk, Vice President Operations. AdvantEdge will continue to operate the business, and will likely expand its investment in the Newark, Del. operations and facility.

“Today's regulations, payer rules, and reimbursement challenges can impede the collection of revenue in emergency medical services,” said Kirk. “Professional Associates, Medrium, and AdvantEdge have taken a customer-first approach to helping specialist physicians and medical practices maintain profitability so they can continue to offer top-level patient care. As the newest member of the AdvantEdge family, we aim to build on AdvantEdge's track record of success and help our clients achieve an even higher level of performance through AdvantEdge's advanced medical billing technology.”
