DETROIT, Jan. 16, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compuware Corporation CPWR, the technology performance company, has partnered with the College for Creative Studies (CCS) to build on the tech giant's long history as a customer- , innovation- and employee-centered company. The partnership paired CCS students and faculty with Compuware teams to explore software design and evaluate how customers really use it.

Enterprise software often prioritizes functionality far ahead of the usability and design factors that allow the user to get value from technology. In 2008, Compuware launched a transformational initiative to make its flagship software offerings the most simple, usable and easy-to-implement in the industry. The partnership with CCS represents a natural extension of this ongoing effort to drive design as a competitive advantage in Compuware's solution portfolio.

"Compuware is committed to innovation to enrich our organization and our solutions. This sort of pairing with a leading creative and design institution demonstrates that we are looking beyond the traditional sources for fresh perspectives and innovative thinking to inject into our solutions," said Compuware CEO Bob Paul. "This program brings Compuware--and most importantly our customers and employees--significant business benefits while deepening our relationship with this world-renowned creative institution, while introducing us to some great candidates for future employment."

In addition to gaining hands-on experience in software design and usability, CCS students enjoyed the opportunity to contribute to Compuware's culture and innovation efforts. As the company enters its 40th year, Compuware has sharpened its focus on enabling employees to drive cultural improvements that better serve customers and help attract and retain the best talent. CCS students participated by collaborating with the company on enhancements in work environment, organizational structure, design and more.

"Working with Compuware has broadened our portfolio of design experience while allowing our students to make an important contribution to one of the world's strongest technology brands," said Doug Kisor, Chair of CCS' Graphic Design Department. "The additional, specialized skills in research, conceptual thinking, design, ethnographic studies and more that CCS students bring to this engagement have built a strong foundation for ongoing collaboration and future success."
