VAIL, Colo., Jan. 22, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- John and Jamie Stone, the founders of DiscoverWell, the nonprofit entity that produces Vail Living Well Experience and Vail Living Well Summit, were recently invited to attend President Bill Clinton's Clinton Health Matters Conference in La Quinta, Calif. The Stones were invited to attend the prestigious conference in recognition of their dedication to raising awareness of health and well-being and creating an international forum for thought-leaders, doctors, researchers, athletes and health enthusiasts to come together to learn, connect and share ideas, and to take back what they experience to their spheres of influence.

"It means a lot to us to be recognized by the Clinton Health Matters Initiative," says Jamie Stone. "But, most importantly, inclusion in the conference meant an opportunity to meet like-minded leaders in this field, share ideas and discuss the need to move these ideas forward to activate our communities. Health and well-being should be a part of every community's sustainability program."

DiscoverWell's commitment and pledge to the Clinton Foundation, whose mission is also to improve the health and well-being of people across the United States by activating individuals, communities, and organizations to make meaningful contributions to the health of others, was to continue and grow their scholarship program to make the Vail Living Well Summit available to qualified health and well-being professionals, non-profits and students who have the ability to make a tremendous impact in furthering education and implementation of health and well-being. DiscoverWell will grant 20 scholarships to attend their signature Vail Living Well Summit in September 2013. Discover Well is currently organizing its scholarship application process; interested parties can contact the organization for more information.

In all, five Colorado-based nonprofit organizations were invited to the conference representing differing programs in health and well-being. Other attending organizations include: Vail Valley-based The Cycle Effect; Anschutz Health and Wellness Center; Food, Faith and Family and The Kitchen Community.

"It's great that Colorado was so well represented," adds Jamie Stone. "Governor Hickenlooper is committed to making Colorado the healthiest state in the nation and with that comes increased opportunity to influence the rest of the country and beyond. We sought out the other Colorado-based organizations at the conference and will meet to share resources and contacts to help one another in our reach."
