Tampa Bay, FL, Aug. 22, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- KnowBe4, the world's largest security awareness training and simulated phishing platform, today announced that John Just, the company's senior vice president of learning innovation has returned from an overseas volunteer trip with the Boat Refugee Foundation. Just volunteered his time in Greece to help teach struggling refugees, whose home countries have been devastated by war, basic computer and advanced English courses and also helped to set up a library at the refugee camp. Just's efforts were part of the Boat Refugee Foundation's mission to provide humanitarian aid to vulnerable refugees. This organization hosts a refugee camp on the Greek island of Lesbos, which is overwhelmed by more than 5,500 people in refugee facilities that are only meant to house 2,000.

"I am so appreciative to Stu Sjouwerman and my team at KnowBe4 for allowing me to go on this trip to help this wonderful organization. They covered for me for two weeks while I did my part to help others who are truly in need of help," said Just. "I was struck by the fact many of these people were just average, middle-class people, many of whom had good jobs back in their countries before war interrupted their lives. The U.N. Refugee Agency reported that nearly 69 million people who have fled war, violence and persecution were forcibly displaced last year, a record for the fifth straight year. The Boat Refugee Foundation provides aid such as medical, education and social support. Volunteers needed for the organization include doctors, nurses, teachers, psychologists, social workers and interpreters. Those who are able to teach computer skills, especially Linux, are highly desired.
