Whirlpool WHR reported a strong rise in its third-quarter earnings.
For the year, Whirlpool lifted its earnings forecast to $9.90 to $10.10 per share, versus its July outlook of $9.50 to $10 per share.
Whirlpool's quarterly profit rose to $196 million, or $2.42 per share, from $74 million, or $0.94 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding special items, it earned $2.72 per share.
Its sales climbed 4.2% to $4.68 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $2.61 per share on revenue of $4.74 billion.
Whirlpool shares closed at $130.97 yesterday.
