Shares of Diana Shipping DSX gained around 1.8% after the company reported upbeat results for the third quarter.
The Athens, Greece-based company posted quarterly net income of $7.7 million, or $0.08 per share, versus a year-ago net loss of $3.2 million, or $0.04 per share.
Its revenue rose 7.6% to $45.1 million in the period. However, analysts were expecting a loss of $0.07 per share on revenue of $43.4 million.
During the quarter, DSX repurchased and retired 1,038,645 shares at an aggregate cost of approximately $10.0 million.
DSX shares rose 1.76% to $8.02 at 10:30 a.m. ET.
