Michael E. Campbell, Chairman, President and CEO of Arch Chemicals, Inc. ARJ and a long-time member of the Advisory Committee For Trade Policy and Negotiations, today called on American companies and workers to encourage Congress to ratify the Korea-United States Free Trade Agreement. Trade officials from both countries just announced that they have come to terms on issues that have held up ratification of this agreement for almost three years.
"This is the largest free trade agreement since NAFTA, and it will provide significant economic benefits for both countries," said Mr. Campbell. "It is of particular significance for the United States because the increase in U.S. exports to Korea will provide jobs for thousands of American workers, just when jobs must be the most important focus of U.S. economic policy."
"This agreement confirms this Administration's commitment to expanding jobs by opening markets for American exporters," Mr. Campbell continued. "President Obama and U.S. Trade Representative Kirk – along with their counterparts, President Lee and Trade Minister Kim – are to be congratulated for finding constructive and creative solutions to the concerns that have held up ratification of this agreement."
