Christina Betancourt Johnson is the founder and chief executive officer of Standard Wellness Maryland (SWM), the first African American and Latina majority-owned, vertically integrated cannabis company in the United States, and first social equity licensee to launch in Maryland. A pioneering force in the cannabis industry, Standard Wellness is dedicated to empowering individuals to live their best lives through the power of nature. Christina is a servant leader and conscious capitalist, envisioning a world where cannabis is not only respected but embraced as a safe, natural path to healthier living. With more than 15 years of executive leadership experience, Christina holds leadership roles on the U.S. Cannabis Council and the National Hispanic Cannabis Council’s Board of Directors. In Maryland, she serves as Vice Chair of The Maryland Wholesale Cannabis Trade Association (CANMD) and was recently appointed by Governor Wes Moore to the Advisory Board on Medical and Adult-Use Cannabis. Before entering the cannabis industry, Christina raised more than $60 million annually for national and international nonprofits as the Director of Marketing for the Combined Federal Campaign. She also served as the Executive Director for Conscious Capitalism and led both a national affordable housing organization and a regional mixed-use and multi-family real estate development firm. As an African American and Latina woman, Christina embraces every aspect of diversity, fostering a culture-rich environment that is as engaging and spirited as the communities from which she comes.
