Member in Charge of Denver Office & Cannabis Litigation Team Leader
Clark Hill Law
Claire is the Member in Charge of Clark Hill’s Denver Office and leader of the firm’s Cannabis Litigation Team.
Claire’s cannabis practice centers around helping companies and their owners prevent and resolve disputes. After more than a decade practicing complex commercial litigation in some of the world’s most sophisticated legal markets, Claire has adapted her unique background and skillset to represent cannabis clients, including in contract and real estate, securities fraud, business torts, and investment and management disputes. Claire is also, more generally, considered a go-to advisor by her cannabis clients as they grow and manage their businesses.
Claire has vast experience helping cannabis clients navigate disputes in nearly every area of the law, including securities, real estate, intellectual property and licensing, trade secrets, restrictive covenants, product liability, defamation, and Constitutional law. Claire applies that experience and know-how in the cannabis industry, by advising marijuana and hemp companies on dispute avoidance and management, defending them against claims (whether by an administrative body or another private party), and vindicating their rights.
Claire has tried, and won, cases in federal and state court and argued successfully in the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Claire has won many cases and claims on summary judgment and other dispositive motions, avoiding the stress and expense of trial for her clients. And she has a long history of success with alternative dispute resolution measures, including mediation and arbitration.
Claire has spoken at several conferences and webinars, and has lectured, about protecting against and defending securities fraud claims in the cannabis industry.
In 2021-2022, Claire was named among the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America for Environmental Law and Commercial Litigation.
In 2022, Claire was named by the National Law Journal as a Cannabis Trailblazer.
In 2024, Claire was named in the Denver Business Journal’s Class of 40 Under 40 young professionals leaving their mark on the Denver business scene.
