Jennifer Barrett is the Chief Education Officer at Acorns, a financial wellness app with more than 8.2 million users, and founding editor of its money site, Grow. Before Acorns, she held various management roles in media, including Personal Finance Editor at CNBC and Senior Vice President and Editor in Chief at DailyWorth, a financial media company targeting women. She also served previously as a General Manager at Hearst Digital, overseeing four magazine sites, including Cosmopolitan and Seventeen. A longtime financial literacy advocate and award-winning journalist, Jennifer began her financial journalism career as the foreign exchange columnist for The Wall Street Journal and spent seven years at Newsweek, where she was a staff writer and editor. Jennifer is a frequent speaker, talking in front of audiences ranging from a few hundred to more than 3,000. She’s been interviewed on several radio shows and podcasts and appeared on NBC’s Today show, MSNBC, CNN, Fusion, NY1 News, Cheddar and Reuters TV. She created and hosts a one-hour-long personal finance video course on Udemy, one of the largest educational platforms in the world, which enrolled nearly 20,000 students in less than one month and was recently rated in the top 3% of all Udemy courses. The co-author of two personal finance books, she’s also written about money for national publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Worth and Money. She’s also a contributor at Forbes. She has an upcoming book on women and breadwinning, which will be published by Penguin Random House in April 2021 and follows her TEDx talk on the same topic.
