Grand Theft Auto fans had high hopes for today, Nov. 22, anticipating an announcement for GTA 6's Trailer 2 based on a quirky "moon theory."

Instead, they have been met with silence so far (as of publication), leaving the community frustrated and speculating about Rockstar's next move.

What Is GTA 6’s Moon Theory?

The moon theory traces back to 2023 when Rockstar released an image in GTA Online featuring the moon in a Waning Gibbous phase. That phase coincided with the announcement date for the first GTA 6 trailer two months later.

When Rockstar released another image earlier this month showing the same moon phase, fans believed history would repeat itself.

November 22 marked the final day of the current Waning Gibbous phase and fans were convinced Rockstar would either release the trailer or announce its release date.

But today, fans were met with no updates from Rockstar or its parent company, Take-Two Interactive Software Inc TTWO, which typically makes announcements around 9 am ET.

It's been nearly a year since Rockstar unveiled the first GTA 6 trailer, confirming a Vice City setting and breaking the internet in the process. Since then, fans have been left in the dark, with no follow-up announcements or new details.

Take-Two has maintained a Fall 2025 release window for the game, but Rockstar's silence is testing the patience of even its most loyal fans.
