Here are the latest betting odds for the 2024 presidential race.
What Happened: Former President Donald Trump was the first candidate to officially announce a run for president of the United States in the 2024 election.
Nikki Haley, a Republican candidate, has also entered the race, and will contend with Trump in what is expected to be a crowded field for the GOP nomination.
On the Democratic side, President Joe Biden is expected to run for re-election. Biden could face challengers who include Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom and Gretchen Whitmer. No Democratic candidates have officially entered the race.
Residents of the United States can’t actively bet with online sportsbooks on who will be the next president of the United States. Sportsbooks like DraftKings Inc DKNG that are live in Ontario offer betting for residents of Canada. Foreign sportsbooks also offer odds and bets. The prediction website PredictIt allows users to bet on the outcome of the election, but is facing potential challenges in the U.S.

For the first time since November 2021, Biden is listed as the betting favorite to win the 2024 presidential election. This comes after a State of the Union address at the start of the month and as more polls are showing Biden’s favorability rating going up.
DeSantis had been the favorite for several months, with odds ranging from +200 to +250. Trump looks to have gained some ground from his odds of +550 after the midterm elections. Trump was the betting favorite back in August, with odds of +275 compared to +300 for DeSantis and +600 for Biden.
Biden is also listed as the betting favorite at Oddschecker with odds of +300 compared to DeSantis at +340, Trump at +400, Haley at +2500 and Harris and Newsom both at +2600.
At Smarkets, Biden is listed as the favorite with implied odds of 27.8% to win the 2024 presidential election. DeSantis and Trump follow behind at 21.7% and 21.3%, respectively. Harris is the only other candidate listed with a 4% chance or better of winning the election with implied odds of 4%. Whitmer is listed at 2.3% and looks to be showing some momentum.
On PredictIt, Biden is listed as the favorite at 35 cents (the winner pays out $1), with DeSantis at 31 cents and Trump at 26 cents. Newsom (7 cents), Harris (5 cents) and Buttigieg (3 cents) are the other candidates listed. When Benzinga last reported on these odds, DeSantis was the favorite at 32 cents, followed by Trump at 28 cents and Biden at 24 cents.
What’s Next: The betting odds are often changing, pricing in polls and news on which candidates are likely to actually run in the 2024 election.
Haley’s odds improved after declaring she was running for president. Odds for Harris, Buttigieg and Pence have fallen in the rankings with no announcement from the potential candidates that they are running.
The biggest wildcard could be Biden’s official announcement that he is running for re-election, which could come at any time. The official announcement could improve Biden’s betting odds and see other Democratic candidates drop further.
An announcement by Biden could see potential candidates declare they are not running and showing their early support for the president.
No sitting president has been defeated by a primary challenger, making it an uphill battle for those interested in running. Biden is listed with betting odds of -200, implying a 67% chance of getting the Democratic nomination.
When looking at outright party odds, DraftKings has the Republican Party favored at -140 compared to +110 odds for the Democratic Party.
DeSantis officially announcing his intent to run could also improve his overall betting odds and hurt those of Trump. While the Republican side could be crowded, Trump and DeSantis are expected to be the two leading candidates in a heated primary contest.
