2-10 Home Buyers Warranty Product Offering

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty is a home warranty policy provider operating throughout the continental United States. Plans are available in all states except Alaska and Hawaii, and the company has grown to issue policies to more than 6 million homeowners. Home warranty policies from 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty are similar to those available from competitors because they offer home system and appliance plans that complement your homeowners insurance policy.

A home warranty is a type of home coverage that helps you pay for repairs and replacements for your home’s major components that aren’t covered under your homeowners insurance. Most home warranties specify that they will only cover repairs and replacements needed as a result of regular wear and tear. This is the reverse of a homeowners insurance policy, which only covers you when damage is the result of a specifically named peril.

When you purchase a home warranty, be sure to note the specific appliances and home systems covered under your plan. Do not assume that any home component is covered under your home warranty unless it’s specifically named in your policy. Each component might have an upper limitation on the total value of the repairs or replacements that your home warranty will cover per annual contract. Your policy will also come with a total overall upper limit on the value of repairs and replacements that you can claim cumulatively throughout the year. Understanding each policy’s inclusions and limitations can help you find the most useful plan for your home.

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty offers three home warranty plan options: the Simply Kitchen plan, Complete Home plan and Pinnacle Home. Each plan includes a separate set of coverages, and optional add-ons are available.

Simply Kitchen

Simply Kitchen is 2-10’s most affordable home warranty plan. As the name suggests, this plan limits coverage to appliances found in the kitchen, including:

  • Built-in microwave
  • Dishwasher
  • Range
  • Oven
  • Cooktop
  • Refrigerator with ice maker or crusher and beverage dispenser

The Simply Kitchen plan includes coverage limits on each of the individual appliances on your plan. The following table summarizes policy limits according to 2-10’s sample contract.

ApplianceCoverage limit
Refrigerator$2,000
Dishwasher$500
Range, oven and cooktop$1,000
Microwave$500

Policy limits cover the “cost to diagnose, repair and/or replace” the corresponding appliance. You can extend the limitations of your policy to a $5,000 aggregate limit with add-on luxury coverage, and you can add coverage for individual systems (like your plumbing system or garage door opener) for just a few dollars more each month.

Complete Home

The Complete Home includes coverage for everything found on the Simply Kitchen plan, plus coverage for the following home systems.

Home systemCovered componentsCoverage limits

Pinnacle Home

The Pinnacle Home plan includes coverage for all of the home systems and appliances found on both previously mentioned policies. It also includes 2-10’s Supreme coverage upgrade, which extends your policy to include damage to the following home components and under the following situations:

  • Appliance handles, hinges, clocks, racks, shelves, baskets, rollers, knobs, dials, latch assemblies, springs, internal lining, turntable platforms, rotisseries, glass/ceramic cooktops, self-cleaning mechanisms
  • Crane costs
  • Filters
  • Refrigerant recovery and recharge up to $150

  • Burglar alarm system
  • Fire alarm system
  • Attic and bathroom exhaust fans
  • Concrete encased or concealed wiring
  • Concrete encased or concealed plumbing components

This plan also includes coverage for your washing machine and dryer, which are notably absent from 2-10’s other plan options. The Pinnacle Home plan includes a $1,000 coverage limit for your washing machine and a unique $1,000 limit for your dryer.

Optional Add-ons

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty allows you to add any of the following add-on coverages to your policy choice.

  • Luxury upgrade: The luxury upgrade extends the $2,000 aggregate policy limit on your heating, air conditioning, heat pump, plumbing and electrical system to a $5,000 cap. It also extends the aggregate limit on your appliance coverage to $5,000.
  • HVAC surplus: If you have a second HVAC system on your property (for example, within a guest home) you can get coverage for it with the HVAC surplus upgrade. This policy upgrade also includes unlimited refrigerant recapture and seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) matching.
  • Pool and spa equipment: Includes coverage of up to $1,000 for saltwater or freshwater pools and spas.
  • Preseason HVAC tuneup: The preseason HVAC tuneup includes coverage for one annual tuneup in February, March, October or November. Note that even with this upgrade, you’ll still need to pay your defined service fee when your technician arrives.
  • Roof leak: Includes coverage for up to $1,000 for incidents involving a roof leak not covered by your homeowners insurance.

Extra add-ons are also available for home components like your septic system, a wine refrigerator, a second freezer and more. Add-ons are available from just $4 extra per month, and each add-on you select will increase the price of your monthly premium. Additional individualized policies are also available for real estate professionals and property managers.

Customer Pricing

To help you get a better idea of what you might expect to pay for your home system or home appliance warranty when you shop with 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty, Benzinga Money requested a quote for a sample home and found that costs don’t include auto-renewal discounts, which are available when you buy online in some areas.

Plan nameMonthly costAnnual cost
Simply Kitchen$22$264
Complete Home$51$612
Pinnacle Home$65$780

When you purchase your home warranty, you’ll also have the ability to add a series of optional coverages to complement the plan you’ve chosen. The following are some examples of popular add-on coverages and what they’ll add to your monthly bill.

Add-onAdditional cost per month
Luxury Package$6
Washer and dryer coverage on Simply Kitchen and Complete Home plans$6
Roof leak coverage$8
Supreme coverage on Complete Home plans$10
Additional refrigerator$5
Additional chest freezer$4
Well pump$6
Saltwater pool$30
Freshwater pool$18
Preseason HVAC tuneup$8
Septic system$4

In addition to your policy premium, you’ll pay a service fee each time you use your policy. Unlike most home warranty service providers that set a flat-rate service fee for all policies, 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty allows you to choose a $65, $85 or $100 service fee. If you choose a $65 service fee, you’ll pay less each time you use your coverage but more per month in premiums. Conversely, if you choose a higher service fee, you’ll pay less each month to maintain your coverage. Consider your home’s condition and the age of your appliances when you select a service fee, and remember that the service fee may be due multiple times a year.

User Benefits

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty’s policies offer a few unique benefits, including the following.

  • Variable service fee: 2-10 is one of only a few home warranty providers that allows you to choose between multiple service fees. This feature also helps you customize your coverage and your costs, as choosing a higher service fee lowers your monthly costs and vice versa.
  • Plenty of add-ons: 2-10 offers an impressive range of add-on coverages, which makes customizing your policy easy. From saltwater pools to wine fridges, adding extra coverage is as straightforward and intuitive as buying a standard policy.
  • Affordable options: Policies from 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty are available from $22 in most parts of the country, which will fit in most homeowners’ budgets easily. When combined with a higher service fee, policies can become even more affordable.

Overall

Overall, 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty is a solid choice for a home warranty, especially for homeowners looking to customize their policy by choosing their own service fee. While you can’t choose your own technician and lower plans have fewer coverages when compared to other home warranty service providers, 2-10’s policies are affordable and come with solid coverage limits.

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty is also notable for its numerous add-on coverage options. From extra HVAC systems to a preseason tuneup, you can cover a wide range of home components on 2-10’s policies, making them exceptionally personalized. Getting a quote with 2-10 is also easy and takes only a minute for most homeowners.
