If the contract is canceled after 30 days, the customer may receive a prorated refund with an additional $50 administrative fee.

What’s Not Covered

While OneGuard® does cover pre-existing conditions, that does not apply to known pre-existing conditions. If your home system or appliance is broken at the time you sign your contract, don’t expect it to be covered. Other exclusions include:

  • Breakages from things other than normal wear and tear
  • Natural disasters like fire and water damage (these are covered by your homeowners policy)
  • Cosmetic defects
  • Misuse of a product as stipulated by the manufacturer
  • Routine maintenance for appliances

There are individual exclusions for home maintenance items. Check your contract for details.

OneGuard® for Real Estate Professionals

Oftentimes, real estate pros and home sellers can fall through the cracks. For these instances in particular, OneGuard® offers real estate plans like its Seller’s Coverage and Certified Pre-owned Home Program. These plans include:

  • Certified Pre-owned Home Program: With this plan, sellers will have a mechanical inspection done on the home.
  • Seller’s Coverage: This plan offers up to six months of protection for the seller during the listing.

If you’re a real estate professional, OneGuard® provides more than 15 home maintenance services you can offer your client. Advantages for real estate agents include:

  • Assurance to homeowners that the systems and appliances in their new homes will be covered in case of breakdown
  • Protecting the agent’s reputation both during and after the sale by maintaining that new home homes will function as advertised
  • The knowledge that all the little things are covered so the agent can focus on selling homes, not maintaining them

OneGuard® advantages for buyers include:

  • Knowing that your home systems and major appliances are covered in case of breakdown
  • Fast service-response time by trusted contractors
  • Award-winning OneGuard® services available 365 days a year

Advantages for sellers include:

  • Assurance to the buyer that there will be no surprises
  • Reductions in both buyer renegotiations and contract cancellations
  • Protection from negative issues discovered during home inspections

All OneGuard® home warranty plans come with home service and maintenance coverage.

OneGuard® for service contractors

OneGuard® not only offers one of the widest selections of services for its customers but the finest in service contractors as well. OneGuard® service contractors get benefits like:

  • Approved invoices in 10 days or less
  • Readily available service contractor managers in all states
  • Quick response time to all questions

Contractors must be licensed with a minimum $1 million in general liability insurance. Proof of workers’ compensation insurance is needed if required by the state.

Average Repair, Replacement Costs

Systems like your air-conditioning unit can sometimes be so expensive to repair, it’s better to replace it. Better even than paying to replace it, however, is having a home warranty in place. For something like an A/C unit, or even a home heating system, the price tag is usually in the thousands of dollars. Even repairing or replacing smaller appliances like a washer/dryer or oven can cost you hundreds of dollars at the least.

ItemAvg. Repair CostAvg. Replacement Cost
A/C$350$5,500
Heating system$350$4,500
Hot water heater$275$1,500
Washer/dryer$285$650
Plumbing$300$3,500
Oven$285$900

Customer Service

OneGuard® Home Warranty offers 24/7 support via live chat, email or phone. Customers can file claims either online or by phone. The OneGuard® Home Warranty website states it will respond to your claim within four hours. After you pay the $75 service fee, a contractor will be dispatched.

Customer Pricing

Even with all the extras like home maintenance and pre-existing conditions coverage, OneGuard® is amazingly affordable. Annual contracts for the plans start at:

ApplianceGuard: $30 per month

SystemGuard: $44 per month

HomeGuard: $56 per month

Customers must pay a $75 service fee when making a claim, but that’s an industry standard.

User Benefits

Like other home warranty companies, OneGuard® offers both system warranty and appliance warranty services. This means if any of your covered home appliances or systems break down, help is on the way. What OneGuard® offers that many other companies do not is a home maintenance plan. This means avoiding costly breakdowns before they even happen. All OneGuard® home warranty plans include access to several home maintenance services such as:

  • A/C and heating system tune-ups
  • Re-key services
  • Carpet cleaning
  • Ceiling fan and light fixture installation
  • Garage door opener tune-ups

OneGuard® specializes in home services and preventative maintenance for its customers.

For existing customers, making claims is easy. The process of filing your claim is as simple as filling out a few short questions on the company’s Request Service form or calling them by phone.  Finding your account executive is as easy as searching by ZIP code, and for contractors, OneGuard® makes the application process both informative and easy.

OneGuard® Home Warranty Versus Competitors

OneGuard® offers similar system and appliance coverage to its competitors. Unlike most of the competition, however, OneGuard® proves strong in maintenance and services. The OneGuard® home maintenance service not only prevents systems and appliances from breaking down, it offers added bonuses like a ceiling fan and light fixture installation.

When compared to its sister company, American Home Shield (AHS), OneGuard® offers more home maintenance services. AHS offers a more prominent technician network and operates in every state except Alaska, while OneGuard® operates in just 3 states.

Overall

Overall, OneGuard® is one of the best home warranty companies out there. The company focuses not only on fixing what’s broken but also stopping the breakage from happening in the first place. Service plans even go so far as installing particular items like lighting fixtures and ceiling fans.

Even though OneGuard® rates 5 stars across the board in all the aforementioned categories, it gets just 4.5 stars overall because of one drawback: It’s only available in three states. Although still a small and growing company, OneGuard® offers some of the best and most comprehensive services out there. In time, geographical coverage is sure to expand.
