Elon Musk seems to be backing down on his cage fight match with Mark Zuckerberg. Instead of a physical fight, Musk now thinks a cage match debate is a good idea, too.
What Happened: Musk seems to be mellowing down after challenging Zuckerberg to a cage fight – the Tesla co-founder and X owner (formerly Twitter) now thinks a debate is also a good idea.

Entrepreneur Chris Anderson, who is also the head of TED, proposed that instead of a physical fight, Musk and Zuckerberg should engage in a cage match debate. The debate would be about "How to Build an Amazing Future", and Musk thinks it is a "noble sport".
"This is really fighting as (I believe) a noble sport. We also hope, with humility, to express our admiration for those who have fought before for noble causes," Musk said, responding to Anderson.
Anderson also proposed streaming the "cage match debate" live on X and Instagram – this has been another bone of contention between Musk and Zuckerberg, with both wanting the stream to be on their respective platforms.
Musk's Mother Had A Similar Proposal: If Anderson's proposal sounds familiar, that is because Musk's mother, Maye Musk, had previously asked her son and Zuckerberg to "fight with words". While Musk did not take her seriously back then, he might be warming up to the idea now.
Curiously, Zuckerberg has shown no signs of relenting. Raring to go, he has thrown shade at Musk, saying he has been unresponsive about Zuckerberg's proposal to schedule a fight.
On the other hand, Musk is still entertaining the possibility of a loss, "If the fight is short, I probably win. If long, he may win on endurance," he said.
He has also said he might need surgery before the fight – which some might think of as another excuse to avoid entering the cage with Zuckerberg.
It remains to be seen if Musk actually backs up his words with action and fights Zuckerberg physically or backs down and pitches a debate.
