While taking 50,000 Bitcoin for a real estate transaction in 2015 may have proved risky, the homeowner who turned down the deal is likely regretting their decision.
What Happened: Over the years an episode of "Million Dollar Listing New York" has gone viral thanks to the missed profits a person could have had if they had accepted Bitcoin for a real estate deal in 2015, six years after <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/01/36471920/happy-birthday-bitcoin-15-fun-facts-about-leading-cryptocurrency">the cryptocurrency launched.</a>
The real estate show, which aired on Comcast Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CMCSA#NASDAQ">CMCSA</a>) unit Bravo for nine seasons, featured many real estate transactions over the years.
The one that draws attention from the cryptocurrency community today is the Season 4, Episode 10 airing that was shown on Bravo on June 17, 2015.

In the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/howtobeentrepreneur/reel/DAEBptvNozn/">episode</a>, real estate agent Ryan Serhant is trying to sell a New York two-bed apartment for $13,950,000. The agent gets an offer from a buyer for 50,000 Bitcoin, which was around $13,041,000 at the time.
"You want to pay in Bitcoin?" Serhant asks the prospective buyer.
The episode shows Serhant on speaker with the client, the apartment owner.
"You sent us an offer in Bitcoin? I'll be totally honest with you Ryan, that's not even the biggest problem. This offer's a million dollars below ask!" the seller says.
While taking Bitcoin for real estate may have been more risky in 2015 given less use cases and ways to sell the cryptocurrency, the deal likely never materialized due to being below the listing price.
Fast forward to today and the seller and Serhant are likely having regrets and nightmares about what could have been.
Based on a price of $94,271.82 for Bitcoin at the time of writing, 50,000 Bitcoin is worth $4,713,591,000. This means the $13 million offer could have turned into more than $4.7 billion, which Serhant would have gotten a piece of as commission.

Why It's Important: Obviously, the seller and Serhant didn't know how high the price of Bitcoin would go. The episode could serve as a learning lesson that sometimes investments that people don't know as much about can have future value.
Serhant has moved on and after nine seasons of "Million Dollar Listing New York," is also an author. The real estate agent recently starred in "Owning Manhattan," a new real estate show on Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NFLX#NASDAQ">NFLX</a>).
The series premiered in June 2024 and a second season has been announced. Here's hoping that some of the transactions on the new show involve cryptocurrency.
Serhant <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@ryanserhant/video/6927028426297576710?lang=en">shared </a>a TikTok in February 2021 where it showed a clip from the famous Bitcoin episode. The TikTok titled "Missed Opportunities in the Crypto Market" featured an image of a calculator multiplying 50,000 (for the Bitcoin) by 37,644, which was the price of Bitcoin at the time. The calculator then shows a value of $1,882,200,000.
With an airdate of June 17, 2015, investors who saw the episode and went and did research on Bitcoin and decided to buy could have also profited nicely.
A $1,000 investment could have bought 3.8933 BTC based on a price of $256.85 at the time. The $1,000 investment would be worth $367,028.48 today.

Workday, Inc. Per the analyst, until international expansion, new products, and partnerships begin to show stronger results, Workday&#8217;s growth prospects are diminishing, leading them to downgrade their rating to Neutral.
While margin expansion to 27.5% in fiscal 2026 could support more than 15% earnings per share (EPS) growth, the analyst struggles to justify Workday&#8217;s high valuation, especially given a 28x price-to-earnings (P/E) multiple for CY26 (compared to a GAAP P/E of 70x).
As a result, the analyst writes that the growth momentum for Workday has slowed.

While the delayed revenue recognition from strategic deals was unexpected, the analyst forecasts that the products and features delivered should result in long-term revenue benefits.
If Workday can maintain stable, durable growth and improve its margins, the stock is likely to see a re-rating, the analyst adds.
Needham: Workday is facing longer sales cycles than in FY24, with cRPO at $6.98 billion, up 15.4% year-over-year, slightly above guidance.
However, the analyst forecasts that Workday shares will be weak due to a lower-than-expected FY26 subscription revenue growth forecast of 14%, below the 15% consensus. This shortfall is attributed to revenue recognition timing on large deals.
The analyst also sees investor concern growing over the intermediate-term outlook, as the company&#8217;s new management team has recently reaffirmed its 15% subscription growth targets.
The analyst raised the FY25 EPS estimates to $7.20 from $7.12.

The MVRV ratio measures the total market value of all circulating coins against the aggregate cost basis of those coins, determined by the prices at which they were last moved on the blockchain.

What To Know: An analysis of 65 of the most anticipated Black Friday <a href="https://www.knownhost.com/blog/what-products-have-the-highest-price-hikes-before-black-friday/">tech deals</a> from last year showed that, while 78% of products participated in sales, about 30% experienced price increases before the event to create the illusion of deeper discounts.

Only 42% of items had stable prices leading up to Black Friday before significant price drops, representing authentic deals. In comparison; 29% of products saw price hikes before Black Friday, with the average being a 20.5% increase, before dropping on the sale. 
According to the KnownHost report, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) products were some of the biggest offenders. The largest price hike in the week before Black Friday was Amazon&#8217;s Fire TV Stick, which saw its price double before the sales event. The price of Amazon's Echo Buds rose 46% and the Amazon Fire Max 11 Tablet saw a price increase of 35% in the week before Black Friday. 
Other products that saw large price increases were HP, Inc.'s (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HPQ#NYSE">HPQ</a>) HP 14 laptop with a 27% increase and Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 5 phone up 16%. 
Benzinga has contacted Amazon for comment on the KnownHost report. 
Tech accessories are mostly likely to experience hikes ahead of Black Friday sales, the report showed, followed by headphones, smartwatches and laptops. 
TVs and tablets were the least likely to have seen increased prices leading up to Black Friday, and therefore, the categories where shoppers are most likely to find genuine savings. 
"Black Friday can be as good as it seems with genuine deals still available to save money and get presents just before Christmas, but checking these deals out beforehand is important," KnownHost said in its report.&nbsp;

Proponents argue that Bitcoin's (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) value growth could help pay down the national debt, which now exceeds $36 trillion. 
However, critics warn of significant risks, citing the volatility of crypto markets and potential taxpayer exposure.
The plan has drawn mixed reactions. 
Trump has signaled openness to the idea, with a promise to stop federal sales of seized Bitcoin and instead build <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/41986427/pennsylvania-introduces-bitcoin-strategic-reserve-act-to-invest-up-to-700-million-in-btc">a strategic reserve.</a>
Speaking at a summer conference, Trump stated, "For too long, the government has violated the cardinal rule that every Bitcoin owner knows by heart: Never sell your Bitcoin."

Despite these bold claims, economists and financial experts remain skeptical. 
Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Analytics, criticized the idea, stating, "There's just no discernible logic to do it. I get why the crypto investor would love it, but for taxpayers, it's risky." 
The unpredictable nature of Bitcoin's value has prompted concerns that acquiring it at current high prices could result in significant losses if the market crashes.
Additionally, some see the proposal as a boon for existing Bitcoin holders, whose portfolios would benefit if government purchases push prices higher.

Critics argue that such actions would primarily serve wealthy crypto investors while placing public funds at risk.
The U.S. government already holds roughly $20 billion worth of cryptocurrencies, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/07/39810138/by-dumping-50k-seized-bitcoins-at-the-wrong-time-germany-lost-an-amount-worth-more-than-th">primarily seized</a> through law enforcement actions.
Currently, these assets are periodically sold. 
Trump's proposal would halt these sales, turning seized Bitcoin into the foundation of a national reserve. 
His stance has energized the crypto market, with Bitcoin prices surging to $92,000 since his election victory.
Legislators aligned with Trump are also taking steps to institutionalize the idea. 
Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), a vocal crypto advocate, has introduced legislation proposing that the government acquire up to 1 million Bitcoins over the next two decades. 
Lummis claims the plan could cut the national debt in half without requiring taxpayer dollars, suggesting revaluation of U.S. gold reserves as a funding mechanism. 
"Not a single U.S. taxpayer dollar would go into the bill I filed,&#8221; she said.
However, experts warn that such measures, including gold revaluation, could be highly inflationary. 
Ananya Kumar, deputy director at the Atlantic Council's GeoEconomics Center, argued, "Because we cannot determine what the price of Bitcoin is going to be 20 years from now, it's hard to make the argument for Bitcoin over gold or another more stable asset."
The proposal has also drawn comparisons to historical milestones.

A widely expected increase in the October Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index — commonly regarded as the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge — triggered fresh losses for the U.S. dollar, while Treasury yields and U.S. stocks <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/24/11/42216384/feds-favorite-inflation-gauge-heats-up-as-predicted-personal-incomes-soar-december-interest-rate-cut-in-doubt">also slid in tandem.</a>
By 11:10 a.m. ET in New York, the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY), tracked by the Invesco DB USD Index Bullish Fund ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UUP#NYSE">UUP</a>), was down 0.8%, reflecting broad weakness in the greenback. Meanwhile, 10-year Treasury yields fell by five basis points to 4.26%, and the S&amp;P 500, replicated by the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>), dropped 0.4%.

The headline PCE price index rose by 2.3% year-over-year in October, up from 2.1% in September, in line with forecasts. Core PCE inflation, which strips out volatile energy and food prices, also ticked higher, climbing from 2.7% to 2.8% annually, meeting economist predictions.
In a positive twist, personal spending and income data slightly beat expectations. Meanwhile, the second estimate for third-quarter U.S. GDP growth remained unchanged at a solid 2.8% annualized rate.
Joseph Brusuelas, economist at RSM US, highlighted the strength of household finances ahead of the critical holiday shopping season. &#8220;Strong personal spending and a 0.6% increase in personal income underscores just how robust the economy and households remain as we approach Black Friday and year-end 2024,&#8221; Brusuelas said.
Despite inflationary signals, Brusuelas maintains that the Federal Reserve is likely to lower interest rates by 25 basis points during its Dec. 18 meeting. Market-implied probabilities echoed this sentiment, with a 70% chance of a rate cut priced into futures markets.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Yen Surges On Bank of Japan Rate-Hike Bets</h1>
Yet, while U.S. economic data took center stage, Wednesday's market action appeared more influenced by carry-trade unwinding and growing speculation around a potential Bank of Japan (BOJ) interest rate hike in December.
The Japanese yen jumped 1.2% against the dollar, extending its winning streak to three consecutive sessions. 
Such a strong daily move by the yen certainly strides with statistics revealing an October U.S. inflation uptick. 
&#8220;Investors are betting on an interest-rate hike from the Bank of Japan next month,&#8221; noted BBVA forex strategist Alejandro Cuadrado in a client note on Tuesday.
