Apple's Twitter Experiment Impresses: Elon Musk and MrBeast Applaud the Move to Share Silo's First Episode

Apple Inc. AAPL took to Twitter to share the complete debut episode of the popular science fiction series "Silo" — and Elon Musk is beyond impressed.

What Happened: In an effort to build anticipation for the highly anticipated conclusion of "Silo" on Apple TV+, the Tim Cook-led company has taken to Twitter to unveil a noteworthy promotional tactic.

Leveraging the long-format video capability of the platform, Apple has shared the complete inaugural episode of Silo on Twitter. This hour-long installment can be conveniently viewed directly on the microblogging site, eliminating the need for an ‌Apple TV+‌ subscription.

It’s worth noting that while non-subscribers can enjoy this initial episode, subsequent episodes require a valid subscription to ‌Apple TV+‌. Similarly, while the first episode can be viewed on Twitter, the same is also accessible on the official ‌Apple TV+‌ website and via the dedicated ‌Apple TV+‌ applications.

Naturally, soon after this news broke down, Musk, who bought Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022 and has since made various changes and improvements on the platform, shared his views about this initiative.

The tech billionaire said that Cupertino's decision to post the entire first episode of "Silo" on Twitter was a "Great" first move.

Others like Jimmy Donaldson, popularly known as MrBeast, also appreciated Apple's decision saying they wouldn't have even heard of the show before, but since they watched the free episode on Twitter, they are now invested in the show's journey.

A few netizens also called for Apple TV+ rival Netflix Inc. NFLX to take a similar approach.

Why It's Important: While Apple's move is being appreciated, Twitter functionality that allows for longer form videos on the platform has time and again come under fire for being misused by some.

In November last year, users started uploading full-length movies over a long thread – which sometimes extended to at least 50 tweets
