The Conference Board Wednesday released fresh data for May covering Help Wanted On-Line (HWOL) metrics.
Advertised vacancies online fell 18,900 to 4,904,100 in May. April's Supply/Demand rate contracted below two (fewer than two unemployed persons for every vacancy), the lowest ratio in over six years.

Demand for labor remained flat, continuing the trend from last year.
Demand fell for workers in the follow categories:
- Sales
- Management
- Computer
Demand grew for workers in the following categories:
- Transportation
- Production
- Construction
- Installation
Of the 20 largest U.S. states, 12 posted declines in advertised online vacancies. For the entire 50-state nation, 27 states experienced declines while 22 gained; Hawaii remained constant. The greatest Metro city loss was in Chicago (-5,200) and the greatest Metro city gain was in the Midwest with Minneapolis-St. Paul (+9,500). Detroit notched an increase in help-wanted ads in May of 6,700.
