Time Warner isn't interested in "anything that's not at least $170" a share, with Charter potentially offering $100 in cash and the rest in stock, according to Farber, who cited an unnamed source.
Time Warner declined to accept an unsolicited bid from Charter last year and agreed instead to be acquired by Comcast Corp. CMCSA for $45 billion.
The Comcast-Time Warner deal was rejected by antitrust regulators last Friday, when the latest Charter rumor apparently first emerged.
