According to DigiTimes, a daily newspaper for semiconductor, electronics, computer and communications industries in Taiwan, reported on Friday that various key companies that make up Apple Inc. AAPL's supply chain are anticipating a 10 percent to 30 percent decline in orders for their components in the first quarter.
DigiTimes noted Apple continues to "adjust its inventory levels" due to a "slowdown in sales momentum" for its iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices.
The publication, citing "sources from the iPhone supply chain in Taiwan," added that total orders for iPhone devices are expected to decline to 50 million to 54 million units in teh first quarter of 2016.
Meanwhile, a recently released DigiTimes research report suggested that Apple's total iPhone shipments are expected to fall by 5.2 percent to 10.1 percent on year in the first quarter due to weaker than expected sales performances.
On the other hand, DigiTimes noted that the decline rate of iPhone sales during the first quarter of 2016 will be "significantly lower" than orders to component suppliers due to deferred sales booking at Apple.
Despite the report, shares of Apple were trading higher by 1.66 percent at $98.05 Friday morning.
