Goldman Sachs made the call of the decade, when they promoted BRIC’S, (Brazil, Russia, India, China) IND in a research report published on Nov. 30, 2001, reports Bloomberg.
The BRIC index soared 367% through yesterday, beating the Emerging Markets Index by 134%. The World Index of 23 developed markets only gained 17% during the period.
Goldman’s Global team, headed by Jim O’Neil made the call. The original call was further reinforced in 2003 and 2005.
The best performing market since Nov. 2001, was Brazil, followed by India, China, and Russia.
