Marjorie Taylor Greene Ally Thomas Massie Polls X Users On Whether He Should Introduce A Bill To Abolish The Federal Reserve — Receives Overwhelming Support

The stock market rally for 2024 has reached its peak, according to Goldman Sachs. The firm&#8217;s chief U.S. equity strategist, David Kostin, has predicted a flat return for the S&amp;P 500 for the remainder of the year.
What Happened: Kostin mentioned in an interview with Bloomberg TV that there is no economic, valuation, or earnings rationale for additional upside. The S&amp;P 500 has already surpassed Goldman&#8217;s year-end target of 5,200.
This suggests &#8220;a flat return from now till the end of the year,&#8221; Kostin said, leaving open the possibility for a change in forecast if variables change.

Goldman&#8217;s team currently projects real GDP growth of just under 3% and earnings growth of about 8%. However, valuations are currently high and unlikely to boost stocks further. 
&#8220;They&#8217;re at an index level basis almost 21 times earnings. So the probability of a multiple expansion, while possible, is less probable,&#8221; Kostin said. &#8220;The idea of earnings being much greater than we&#8217;re assuming we think is pretty low.&#8221;

He noted that if the Federal Reserve has to cut interest rates more dramatically than assumed, this could lead to more upside. However, Goldman&#8217;s base case still considers two cuts as the most likely scenario for this year.

What Happened: DA Davidson analyst Gil Luria has cautioned that Nvidia&#8217;s stock might not be able to sustain its meteoric rise due to a potential decline in demand for its GPUs, according to an <a href="https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/investing/video/i-m-worried-about-nvidia-in-the-long-term-demand-decline-may-be-inevitable-analyst~2921599">interview</a> on BNN Bloomberg.
Luria predicts that Nvidia&#8217;s profits for the last quarter will exceed $25 billion. However, he foresees a long-term decline for the chipmaker as it faces increasing competition, even from its own major customers.
&#8220;The reason we&#8217;re not quite as bullish as everybody else is we&#8217;re looking at the horizon. What&#8217;s going to happen next year? What&#8217;s going to happen in 2026? We think there&#8217;s accumulating more and more evidence this can&#8217;t continue,&#8221; Luria said. &#8220;Whenever one company extracts this much profit out of the market, competition does come in, and in Nvidia&#8217;s case, it&#8217;s coming in from its customers.&nbsp;
He noted that the majority of Nvidia&#8217;s business comes from its five largest customers, including Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Tesla, all of which are also major players in the AI sector. These firms are reportedly developing their own AI chips, posing a potential threat to Nvidia&#8217;s future.
Luria also pointed out that despite some customers stockpiling Nvidia&#8217;s GPUs, demand is likely to taper off eventually, leading to a decline in revenue. This could catch investors off guard, potentially resulting in a significant drop in the stock price.

However, not all analysts share Luria&#8217;s caution. OpenAI&#8216;s chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, who <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/05/38834519/openai-chief-scientist-ilya-sutskever-steps-down-ceo-sam-altman-calls-him-a-guiding-light-of-ai-fiel">announced departure from his post</a> on Wednesday, might now be heading to Elon Musk&#8217;s xAI, according to Deepwater Asset Management&#8216;s managing partner, Gene Munster.
What Happened: Munster took to X, formerly Twitter, and suggested that Sutskever&#8217;s departure from OpenAI could lead him to Musk&#8217;s xAI. He pointed out that Sutskever had already planned his next move and expressed excitement about a project that is personally significant to him.
&#8220;My sense is the writing was on the wall since Nov-23 when Ilya regrettably recommended the board remove Sam Altman. Despite that misstep, he is still one of the world&#8217;s greatest AI talents,&#8221; Munster stated. 
He added, &#8220;My sense is there&#8217;s a 60% chance he ends up at xAI. Elon&#8217;s determined to advance Grok, his &#8216;truth seeking&#8217; foundation model, and needs world-class talent. The question is; is building a truth-seeking model &#8216;personally meaningful&#8217; to Ilya? I don't know the answer,&#8221; Munster wrote.

In the ongoing criminal trial against former President Donald Trump, his ex-personal attorney Michael Cohen is reportedly set to testify once more.
What Happened: Cohen will face cross-examination by Trump&#8217;s defense attorney on Thursday. Cohen, the last witness for the prosecution, had previously testified about his change of allegiance against Trump in 2018 and his wish for Trump&#8217;s conviction, <a href="https://www.voanews.com/a/cohen-to-testify-again-at-trump-s-criminal-trial/7613823.html">reported</a> Voice Of America News.
Trump&#8217;s defense lawyer, Todd Blanche, has cast doubt on the reliability of Cohen&#8217;s testimony, citing his apparent fixation on Trump, which includes profiting from anti-Trump merchandise and books. Blanche aims to expose Cohen&#8217;s hostility towards the former president through his line of questioning.
Cohen has confessed to earning $3.4 million in royalties from two Trump-related books and selling anti-Trump items on his website. He also hosts a podcast where he regularly criticizes Trump.
Blanche has challenged Cohen&#8217;s selective memory, pointing out his ability to remember damaging conversations with Trump from 2016, but not recent interactions with prosecutors. Cohen, however, maintains that he remembers all phone conversations with Trump.
Trump is facing 34 charges and could be sentenced to up to four years in prison if convicted. The charges include falsifying business records at his Trump Organization to conceal a $130,000 reimbursement to Cohen in 2017.

What Happened: Pelosi voiced her concerns over Trump&#8217;s past debate behavior, citing instances from 2016 and 2020 when Trump appeared to physically intimidate his opponents and frequently interrupted the moderator, <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4666882-pelosi-says-she-would-never-recommend-biden-debate-trump/">reported</a> The Hill.
"I myself would never recommend going on stage with Donald Trump," Pelosi told CNN's on Wednesday, according to the report.
&#8220;But the president has decided that's what he wants to do,&#8221; said the former speaker. "I think the format he is suggesting is a good one."
The first debate, hosted by CNN, is scheduled for June 27, followed by a second debate on September 10, hosted by ABC. These debates are part of a strategic move by the Biden campaign to highlight the differences between the two candidates.
Pelosi suggested that networks hold separate town hall meetings, allowing the candidates to answer questions about the future and let the public make their decision.

Kevin O'Leary is quite blunt when it comes to giving important advice, especially when it concerns business and money. While the "Shark Tank" host has doled out plenty of advice over the years, he follows it himself too, and is known for his frugal lifestyle.
Be it expensive coffee or sandwiches, O'Leary follows these five things in his life so he does not waste his money.

Perhaps this is easier said than done at times, but O'Leary does not like expensive dates. Instead, he wants people to look at dating as an investment.
"You're going to spend money and you're going to spend time [on dates], so look at that significant other in the context of, ‘Do I want to spend time with them?' And, ‘Do I want to invest money in them?&#8217;" he <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/25/kevin-oleary-how-to-decide-what-to-spend-on-a-date.html">said</a> in a CNBC interview.

O'Leary thinks it is "such a waste of money" to buy expensive coffee that costs $2.50 to purchase but "about 18 cents" to make.
"I drink coffee, one cup every morning. It costs about 18 cents to make it, and I invest the rest," he <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56XYThTXgOQ">said</a> in another interview on CNBC.

O'Leary is not a big fan of spending too much on eating out – he thinks spending $15 on sandwiches makes no sense for something that costs 99 cents to make at home.
"You know, you go to work, you spend 15 bucks on a sandwich. What are you an idiot?" he <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@kevinolearytv/video/7275123149476252971?lang=en">said</a> in a TikTok video.

O'Leary thinks spending too much on clothes is another big source of throwing money down the drain.
"If you actually look at your closet, you probably wear the same 20% 80% of the time, and the rest of the stuff you bought is wasted," said O'Leary in an interview with Entrepreneur.
He added that he has 20 suits and carries four of them with him – he wears them out before buying new ones, which helps him not waste money.

5 Things Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary Does Not Waste His Money On And You Shouldn't, Either

Xos (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XOS#NASDAQ">XOS</a>) reported quarterly losses of $(1.80) per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $(2.25) by 20 percent. This is a 58.33 percent increase over losses of $(4.32) per share from the same period last year. The company reported quarterly sales of $13.162 million which missed the analyst consensus estimate of $15.720 million by 16.27 percent. This is a 180.22 percent increase over sales of $4.697 million the same period last year.

For cannabis stock investors, April ended in absolute euphoria. The sector has skyrocketed this week.



The rally came on reports that the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is set to <a href="https://apnews.com/article/marijuana-biden-dea-criminal-justice-pot-f833a8dae6ceb31a8658a5d65832a3b8">reclassify marijuana&rsquo;s</a> controlled substance status. Marijuana is currently in Schedule 1, which is the strictest level of regulatory enforcement. This planned reclassification would move marijuana from Schedule 1, alongside drugs like LSD, to Schedule 3, where less serious drugs such as ketamine and anabolic steroids reside.



While this wouldn&rsquo;t amount to total federal legalization, it&rsquo;d be a strong step in the right direction for the cannabis industry. This would ease various restrictions and red tape around things such as banking and payments acceptance for U.S. cannabis companies today.



Traders seem to have taken a buy the whole industry approach, indiscriminately bidding up a huge number of pot stocks on the news. However, not all <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/healthcare/cannabis/">marijuana stocks</a> will benefit equally. These three marijuana stocks to avoid are still in deep trouble, regardless of the recent regulatory news.



<h2>Canopy Growth (CGC)<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/-stock-quote/"></a></h2>

Shares skyrocketed in 2018 as investors warmed up to a potential boom in the Canadian cannabis market.



Since that point, however, CGC stock has been an utter trainwreck. Shares have fallen from a (split-adjusted) peak of around $500 per share in 2018 to less than $15 today. The company has engaged in an unceasing string of dilution to fund its massively loss-generating operations. Last quarter alone, the company lost <a href="https://www.canopygrowth.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Canopy-Growth-Reports-Third-Quarter-Fiscal-2024-Financial-Results.pdf">$230 million</a> Canadian dollars from operations.



Simply put, the legal Canadian cannabis market never took off to nearly the degree that investors had been banking on. At the same time, entrepreneurs treated the sector as a gold mine, and way too much capital went flooding into the Canadian recreational market leading to a massive <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-67126243">supply/demand imbalance</a>.



Despite Canopy&rsquo;s long track record of unsuccessful operations, traders have given the company yet another chance. Shares have now more than doubled year-to-date following this week&rsquo;s rally.



However, the company is far more tied to the Canadian than American market making this reclassification catalyst of dubious value to Canopy specifically. Given Canopy&rsquo;s large operating losses and substantial debtload, more share dilution and a slumping stock price seem likely going forward, despite the recent excitement.



<h2>Aurora Cannabis (ACB)</h2>

The company has attempted to take a conglomerate approach to the industry, launching a wide variety of operations. Its main divisions are Canadian cannabis, European cannabis, and plant propagation.



The firm has searched far and wide for growth opportunities, going so far as to distribute wholesale medicinal cannabis in markets as far away as Australia, Israel and South America.



For all the company&rsquo;s efforts, however, it doesn&rsquo;t have much to show for it. The company generated $198 million of revenues in fiscal year 2020, but the figure fell to $173 million in fiscal year 2023. Simply put, there&rsquo;s been a massive glut in the cannabis market, pressuring pricing and causing large quantities of inventory pile-up for leading Canadian distributors.



Analysts are hopeful that Aurora will finally return to revenue growth in 2024. Even so, analysts expect the company to keep <a href="https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ACB/earnings/estimates">losing money</a> for the next two years. Given the high level of competition and low profit margins in the industry, ACB stock will have &mdash; at best &mdash; an uphill climb over the next few years.



Like with Canopy, Aurora shares leapt this week even though Aurora seems unlikely to benefit much even if the U.S. regulatory environment improves.



<h2>Flora Growth (FLGC)</h2>

In theory, this would make for an attractive business model. Thanks to Colombia&rsquo;s warm climate and cheap cost of labor, it should be much more economical to produce cannabis in Colombia than in cold weather countries such as Canada. Colombia has a successful export industry for <a href="https://www.floraldaily.com/article/9567195/colombian-flower-industry-in-numbers/">cut flowers</a> and tropical fruits, so it was natural to think cannabis could follow a similar trajectory.<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/-stock-quote/"></a>



However, regulatory matters make it more complicated than that. Not surprisingly, there is a great deal of red tape in moving cannabis across international boundaries. Both Flora and fellow Colombian cannabis company Clever Leaves (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/clvr-stock-quote/">CLVR</a>) have seen their shares <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/clever-leaves-announces-voluntary-delisting-201000112.html">utterly implode</a> over the past two years.



That share price beating is well-deserved. In the case of Flora Growth, it managed to lose $54 million over the past 12 months on revenues of $77 million over the same period. Companies tend to not remain in business for long with those sorts of profitability metrics.



In addition to Flora&rsquo;s operational problems, short sellers have also raised concerns about Flora. A scathing 2021 <a href="https://whitediamondresearch.com/research/flora-growth-a-cannabis-company-of-deception-unprofessionalism-and-stock-pump-and-dumps-2-price-target/">short seller report</a> noted that Flora acquired its key operating asset in Colombia for a mere $80,000 consideration. The report also highlighted concerns about insiders and the management team at the company.



FLGC stock has collapsed in value since that report &mdash; and given the concerns raised and the company&rsquo;s subsequently sour operational results, it&rsquo;s worth wondering whether Flora will have any terminal value at all.
