released its financial and operational results on Tuesday afternoon for the first quarter of 2024, ending March 31.
The company reported a 35% decrease in net revenue, which fell to $4.9 million from $7.5 million in the same quarter last year. However, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/23/11/35789904/cannabis-growers-rough-year-q3-earnings-show-28-revenue-plunge-but-sheds-millions-in-debt">net revenue</a> showed a 35% increase from $3.6 million in Q4 2023.
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/23/03/31227249/from-controversial-to-profitable-why-nestl-procter-gamble-pepsico-and-other-cpg-brands-should-emb">Consumer packaged goods (CPG)</a> revenue dipped 11% year-over-year but rose 10% from the previous quarter. Bulk product revenue dropped 73% year-over-year and 66% from Q4 2023. Revenue from Lowell Farm Services (LFS) decreased 41% year-over-year and 93% from the previous quarter.
Mark Ainsworth, co-founder and CEO, <a href="https://ir.lowellfarms.com/news-events/press-releases/detail/123/lowell-farms-inc-announces-unaudited-first-quarter-2024">remarked</a>, &quot;Our recent strategic decisions have bolstered our manufacturing and distribution capabilities, allowing us to navigate the industry landscape. <h3>Financial Losses Improve Despite Gross Margin Challenges</h3>

<li>The net loss for the quarter was $2.9 million, an improvement from the $4.0 million net loss in the same quarter last year (27.5% YoY) and better than the $13.1 million net loss in Q4 2023 (77.9% QoQ).</li>
<li>Adjusted EBITDA stood at negative $1.1 million, consistent with the same quarter last year but an improvement from negative $4.1 million in the previous quarter.</li>

Lowell Farms Reports 35% Revenue Drop In Q1: Following Cannabis Cultivation Exit, Net Loss Down 27.5%

Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>) proponents might still be optimistic about a spot ETF approval but analysts tracking the developments increased the odds of a rejection by the SEC.
What Happened: Analyzing a March filing submitted by BlackRock Inc. to the SEC over its ETF application, finance lawyer Scott Johnson discovered &#8220;official&#8221; signals of the regulator viewing Ethereum as a security.
The SEC while delaying the approval, also sought public feedback on whether the applicant properly filed its ETF listing proposal as a commodity.

Johnson noted that this question was asked for all the ETF filings and never for any Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) spot/futures ETF product.&nbsp;
"The obvious purpose is to potentially deny on the basis that these spot filings are improperly filed as commodity-based trust shares and do not qualify if they are holding a security," he added.
Responding to his findings, Bloomberg analyst James Seyffart increased the likelihood of a spot ETH ETF rejection, convinced that the regulator was considering the security question for ETH.&nbsp;
Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas entered the discussion as well, emphasizing, "Our odds of approval remain the same: slim to none."
Why It Matters: The SEC is due to decide on VanEck's spot Ether ETF by May 23 &#8211; the final deadline for the first batch of proposals enabling investors to bet on the spot price of the world's second-largest cryptocurrency.&nbsp;
Ethereum&#8217;s status has become the major sticking point, with the SEC <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/04/38520739/consensys-alleges-sec-covertly-targeted-ethereum-sparking-legal-battle">allegedly launching a covert operation</a> to brand the cryptocurrency as a security. A rejection might pose further pain for the asset, already hampered by a sluggish market in recent weeks.

Ethereum Spot ETF Approval Odds Decrease For Later This Month As Analyst Points Out SEC 'Considering the Security Question for the Asset'

On Tuesday, Cathie Wood&#8217;s Ark Invest made some significant trades, notably buying shares of Shopify Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SHOP#NYSE">SHOP</a>) and selling off Block Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SQ#NYSE">SQ</a>) stocks.
The Shopify Trade
Ark Invest&#8217;s ETFs, including Ark Fintech Innovation ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ARKF#NYSE">ARKF</a>), ARK Innovation ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ARKK#NYSE">ARKK</a>), and ARK Next Generation Internet ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ARKW#NYSE">ARKW</a>), purchased a total of 105,034 shares of Shopify. The move came after Shopify&#8217;s <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/05/38721307/cathie-woods-ark-invest-purchases-over-30m-of-shopify-shares-amid-q1-numbers-driven-plunge-adds-">first-quarter earnings report</a>, which was released earlier in the month. The trade was valued at approximately $6.09 million, based on Shopify&#8217;s closing price of $58.03 on Tuesday.
Notably, this is the second day in running that Ark Invest has piled on Shopify shares. On Monday, the Wood-led firm added shares worth $18 million to its portfolio.
The Block Inc Trade
On the same day, Ark Invest sold a total of 210,591 shares of Block across its ARKF, ARKK, and ARKW ETFs. The trade was valued at approximately $15 million, based on the Jack Dorsey-led company&#8217;s closing price of $71.20 on Tuesday.

Prominent technical analyst Kevin spotted a falling wedge pattern for Bitcoin, noting, "BTC is currently compressed between a ton of support and resistance and it&#8217;s gonna pop one way or the other within days."

While the joint statement, dated May 10, does not mention any specific threats or intelligence, it highlights the efforts by foreign terrorist organizations to commit or inspire violence against holiday celebrations, including Pride events or LGBTQ-related venues. This is further compounded by the current heightened threat environment in the United States and other western countries.
&#8220;We urge the public to stay vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activity to their local law enforcement,&#8221; said a DHS official, according to the report.
The alert also points out that these foreign groups and their supporters have previously promoted anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and targeted LGBTQ-related events or venues for attacks. &#8220;We continue to work with our partners to evaluate the threat environment, provide updates to the American public, and protect our homeland,&#8221; a DHS official told USA Today.

The Department of Transportation has pledged to &#8220;vigorously defend&#8221; the rule, which is intended to protect consumers from &#8220;hidden junk fees&#8221; and ensure full price transparency before ticket purchase.
The Biden administration finalized the rule last month, with Buttigieg asserting that it will save passengers over half a billion dollars a year in unnecessary or unexpected fees.

Yesterday brought a <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/04/cannabis-stocks-surge-as-biden-moves-to-reclassify-marijuana-asap/">significant rally</a> for <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/healthcare/cannabis/">cannabis stocks</a> as good news from Capitol Hill sent the entire sector into the green. 



The White House announced that plans to reschedule marijuana as a Schedule III substance are moving forward. This decision <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/30/economy/dea-marijuana-rescheduling/index.html">follows a recommendation</a> from The Department of Justice (DOJ) that restrictions on cannabis be eased. If President Joe Biden moves forward with this reclassification, it will represent a significant shift toward a more cannabis-friendly economy, creating ample growth opportunities for many cannabis stocks. 



However, domestic producers may have an advantage over their internationally-based peers if the reclassification moves forward, easing the restrictions that cannabis growers and sellers currently face. As The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/30/us/politics/justice-department-reclassify-marijuana.html">reports</a>:




&ldquo;Even though the move, which kicks off a lengthy rule-making process, does not end the criminalization of the drug, it is a significant shift in how the government views the safety and use of marijuana for medical purposes. It also reflects the Biden administration&rsquo;s effort to liberalize&nbsp;<a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/514007/grassroots-support-legalizing-marijuana-hits-record.aspx#:~:text=As%20of%20today%2C%20support%20for,to%2034%2Dyear%2Dolds." target="_blank">marijuana policy</a>&nbsp;in a way that puts it more in line with the public as increasingly more Americans favor legalizing the drug.&rdquo;




President Biden has plenty of incentive to see that marijuana is reclassified from Schedule I to the less severe Schedule III. Recent data from the Pew Research Center shows that an <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2024/03/26/most-americans-favor-legalizing-marijuana-for-medical-recreational-use/#:~:text=An%20overwhelming%20share%20of%20U.S.,legal%20for%20medical%20use%20only.">overwhelming majority</a> of Americans favor less strict marijuana policies.



With this in mind, it is likely that the reclassification will move forward and that the current rally will continue. This warrants a closer look at some of the companies best positioned to benefit.



<h2>Cannabis Stocks: Curaleaf Holdings (CURLF)</h2>

Based in Massachusetts, this cannabis producer and distributor has enjoyed impressive growth lately, rising more than 110% over the past six months. The company has an established presence in <a href="https://curaleaf.com/about-curaleaf">17 states across the U.S.</a> on both the East and West coasts, with 147 dispensaries. But even more promising is the fact that Curaleaf is focused on expanding its reach throughout international markets. It <a href="https://ir.curaleaf.com/2024-04-22-Curaleaf-Completes-Acquisition-of-Northern-Green-Canada">recently acquired</a> Northern Green Canada, a deal that will help it make inroads in nations such as the U.K., Poland and Germany.



Now that its own country is gearing up to ease cannabis restrictions, though, Curaleaf will be in an even better position to continue growing. Its financials are strong, and experts will likely start recognizing it as an<a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/04/3-hot-cannabis-stocks-with-multibagger-return-potential-before-the-presidential-election/"> undervalued growth play</a> in a sector that is about to boom.



<h2>Green Thumb Industries (GTBIF)</h2>

This cannabis retailer boasts a dynamic brand portfolio with plenty of offerings for varied consumers. It ended 2024 on a high note and <a href="https://investors.gtigrows.com/investors/news-and-events/press-releases/press-release-details/2024/Green-Thumb-Industries-Reports-Fourth-Quarter-and-Full-Year-2023-Results/default.aspx">reported strong earnings</a> for Q4, including a net income of $36.3 million, up from the previous year&rsquo;s $12.0 million. InvestorPlace contributor Ian Cooper <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/04/wall-street-favorites-3-cannabis-stocks-with-strong-buy-ratings-for-april-2024/">provides further context</a>, stating:

All this bodes extremely well for this successful cannabis stock, which has earned a <a href="https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/gtbif/forecast">strong buy consensus</a> from Wall Street analysts, some of whose price targets exceed $30 per share. That standing is likely to improve as cannabis restrictions ease in the U.S. 



<h2>Cannabis Stocks: GrowGeneration&nbsp;(GRWG)</h2>

Much of the reason centers on belief in the business. However, there&rsquo;s also a component that renegade analysts can make a name for themselves.



Best of all, expert guidance tends to influence the market. At the very least, they provide visibility to the ideas they cover. So, you can speculate with a greater sense of confidence. With that, here are analyst-backed penny stocks to buy.



<h2>GrowGeneration (GRWG)</h2>

Instead, <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/GRWG/profile">per its public profile</a>, the company owns and operates retail hydroponic and organic gardening stores. However, retail investors are free to read between the lines. While GrowGeneration might not explicitly support the cannabis space, its products &ndash; including environmental control systems &ndash; are relevant to the space.



Why does that matter? Recently, the Biden administration <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/04/cannabis-stocks-surge-as-biden-moves-to-reclassify-marijuana-asap/">moved to reclassify marijuana</a> to Schedule III from Schedule I. With the lower level of enforcement, the U.S. cannabis sector has enjoyed a significant bout of credibility. Following the announcement, several pure-play &ldquo;botanical&rdquo; enterprises saw their equity value rise dramatically.



In fairness, traders dumped GRWG and other <a href="https://investorplace.com/industries/healthcare/cannabis/">cannabis stocks</a> on Wednesday to collect their profits. Still, demand may rise longer term, possibly forcing a rethink. For example, analysts previously believed the company would post revenue of $208.84 million in fiscal 2024. That&rsquo;s down 7.5% from last year. Projections for 2024 (and you&rsquo;ve got to think especially for 2025) should be modified upward.



For now, GRWG carries a <a href="https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/grwg/forecast">moderate buy</a> rating with a $3.70 average price target. It&rsquo;s one of the more reasonable penny stocks to buy.



<h2>Brilliant Earth Group (BRLT)</h2>

Fundamentally, Brilliant Earth presents an interesting but challenging case for penny stocks to buy. On one hand, the tough consumer economic environment has crimped sentiment. To be sure, diamond rings represent a big-ticket item. On the other hand, such products like engagement rings are (you&rsquo;d hope) once-in-a-lifetime events.



Plus, the broader social normalization could help Brilliant indirectly as people are more willing to consider meeting new people. That just wasn&rsquo;t possible during the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic.



Analysts are looking for solid growth given the circumstances, anticipating sales of $462.72 million this year. Last year, the print came out to $446.38 million. They also peg shares a <a href="https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/brlt/forecast">moderate buy</a> with a $3.50 price target.



<h2>Jerash Holdings (JRSH)</h2>

To give you an idea of what I&rsquo;m talking about, experts believe that fiscal 2024 sales will land at $116.94 million. That would be down 15.3% from last year&rsquo;s result of $138.06 million. So, why bother putting money at risk in JRSH?



While discretionary sentiment may be down, it&rsquo;s also fair to point out that the U.S. labor market is robust. Further, the apparel market isn&rsquo;t exactly the biggest-ticket item out there. It&rsquo;s possible that gradually, Jerash&rsquo;s business could recover. Certainly, the security&rsquo;s price action has been relatively stable this year.



Analysts rate shares a <a href="https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/jrsh/forecast">consensus moderate buy</a> with a $5 price target.



<h2>Arbe Robotics (ARBE)</h2>

Fundamentally, it doesn&rsquo;t take much to recognize the upside potential here. Fortune Business Insights notes that the global autonomous vehicle market reached a valuation of $1.5 trillion in 2022. By 2030, this <a href="https://www.fortunebusinessinsights.com/autonomous-vehicle-market-109045">sector could hit $13.63 trillion</a>, implying a compound annual growth rate of 32.3% from 2023. Not surprisingly, analysts believe Arbe could print revenue of $1.65 million, up 12.2% from last year.



Here&rsquo;s the kicker: in fiscal 2025, experts believe that Arbe can post sales of $31.35 million. If so, that would be 1,800% up from projected 2024 sales. Lastly, analysts peg shares a <a href="https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/arbe/forecast">unanimous strong buy</a> with a $3.50 price target.



<h2>Blade Air Mobility (BLDE)</h2>

Of course, Blade Air is best known for its innovations in electric vertical aircraft, also known as electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. According to Precedence Research, the eVTOL sector reached a <a href="https://www.precedenceresearch.com/evtol-aircraft-market">valuation of $11.15 billion in 2022</a>. By 2032, the ecosystem could be worth $35.79 billion, implying a CAGR of 12.37%.



For fiscal 2024, analysts forecast revenue to reach $246.37 million. That&rsquo;s up 9.4% from last year&rsquo;s tally of $225.18 million. By 2025, the top line could hit $279.79 million, up 13.6% from projected 2024 sales.



It&rsquo;s also one of the most tempting penny stocks to buy. Analysts rate shares a <a href="https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/blde/forecast">unanimous strong buy</a> with a $6 price target.



<h2>Blink Charging (BLNK)</h2>

Officially, the company owns, operates, manufactures and provides electric vehicle charging equipment and networked EV charging services in the U.S. and international markets. BLNK is a compelling idea among penny stocks to buy because of the long-term narrative.



Still, it&rsquo;s a tough case. Notably, the EV sector is experiencing a demand fallout. What makes the matter worse is that combustion-based hybrid electric car sales are flying through the roof. So, it may be a while before demand returns back to pure-play EVs. On the other hand, more people are interested in making the transition to electric.



If you&rsquo;re one of the believers, experts forecast fiscal 2024 sales to hit $170.59 million. That&rsquo;s up 21.3% from last year&rsquo;s print of $140.6 million. In fiscal 2025, revenue could rise to $228.41 million, up 33.9% from projected 2024 sales.



Analysts are pegging BLNK as a <a href="https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/blnk/forecast">moderate buy</a> with a $7.83 price target.



<h2>Rekor Systems (REKR)</h2>

The company is also involved in innovative AI-driven traffic studies for traffic management research.



For fiscal 2024, analysts are looking for revenue to hit $66.07 million. That&rsquo;s up 89.1% from the prior year&rsquo;s print of $34.93 million. What&rsquo;s more, fiscal 2025 sales could reach $88.74 million. If so, that would be up 34.3% from projected 2024 revenue.



Finally, analysts rate shares a consensus <a href="https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/rekr/forecast">moderate buy</a> with a $4.50 average price target. This could be one of the blue-sky prospects among penny stocks to buy.
