"I find this highly exciting from a T-Mobile stand point," he told CNBC's David Faber on Monday. "First of all they already donate 50 percent of all my customer growth. They are going to be even more distracted and focused on [the merger]."
Legere further suggested that AT&T's distraction will also accelerate his company's growth and now expects T-Mobile's wireless business will be bigger than AT&T's.
The executive did confirm that the company will have sufficient spectrum to handle its growth over the years but didn't offer any specific details of any spectrum auctions. He did, however, state that T-Mobile has more spectrum per customer versus AT&T and his company recently spent over $1 billion to purchase 700 MHz A Block spectrum.
"I made it very clear that T-Mobile is probably one of if not the most aggressive participants in the current 600 [MHz spectrum] and if these guys all lose their focus this could be a windfall set of capabilities for us," Legere concluded. "So yes, we are investing heavily and we will in the 5G space as well."

- AT&T was down 1.85 percent at $36.79.
