Pokemon Is Making A Comeback And You Can Invest In It

Millennials are the key demographic in the business world in recent years, and the latest data from TickerTags provides some insight into what could be a very successful marketing campaign targeting this age group this year.

TickerTags monitors social media sites to identify trends by searching for words or phrases that appear together in social media content, such as tweets.

Companies are beginning to cash in on Millennials’ nostalgia for the hottest trends of the 90s. One of the best examples of this type of nostalgia is Netflix Inc. NFLX’s Fuller House, a remake of the hit 90’s show Full House that includes several original cast members. Netflix recently renewed the show for a second season.

Another popular 90’s trend that could be making a major comeback is Pokemon. Nintendo Co., Ltd. (ADR) NTDOY is set to release its new game Pokemon Sun & Moon later this year. While there have been plenty of Pokemon games released since the 90s, organic Twitter mentions of Pokemon are now six to eight times higher than they were at the times that the last three Pokemon games were released.

Nintendo has said that Sun & Moon will be an important game for Pokemon fans because it will be the first traditional play Pokemon game released in three years and will introduce a new generation of Pokemon characters as well.

Nintendo and its shareholders are hoping that the social media buzz will ultimately translate into strong sales down the line.
