There are some active traders and investors who follow the equity preferences of billion-dollar hedge funds as though their picks were gospel. Others may just keep track of the information for general sentiment purposes. Regardless, knowing the positions of the giant portfolios at legacy trading institutions can be incredibly valuable information.

Taking a look at the Institutions widget on FinanceBoards, we can see which stocks are the most in favor among Wall Street’s biggest players.

Tesla Inc TSLA remains a popular option among the largest institutional investors like Baillie Gifford & Co—which holds 8.15 percent of the company—and Fidelity’s FMR LLC, which recently increased its position to more than 13.5 percent.

On the other hand Nvidia Corporation NVDA, the best-performing S&P 500 stock of 2016,, has seen a bit of a downturn among institutional holders. Vanguard, FMR, and Primecap Management, all of whom have sizable positions, have each trimmed between 11 and 15 percent of their holdings in the semiconductor company this year.

Other tech stocks like Apple Inc AAPL and Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN have a bit more of a mixed record with the institutions in 2017. Apple has seen several smaller stake increases to the tune of 1-3 percent among Vanguard, FMR and Blackrock, while Amazon saw Capital World Investors trim about 13 percent of its stake (2.3 million shares).

Fundamental analysis should be a dynamic process, not something you stop learning about. As your trading and investing evolves, and you find more information sources, consider what tools will give you an edge. Wall Street’s biggest hedge funds have theirs. Do you?
