Cannabis “tampons” could be the ultimate treatment for period pains.
Early this year, the notorious “weed lube” maker Foria launched Foria Relief, a cannabis-infused vaginal suppository (containing only cocoa butter, THC and CBD) that helps ease menstrual cramps without giving users a “psychotropic high” – this means, no trip, just pain relief. The suppositories do not replace traditional tampons, and can be used at the same time as them.
Interestingly, reviews have been very good, with people saying the product provided longer pain relief than traditional painkillers. In a Broadly article, Mish Barber Way declared her cramps had disappeared completely just 20 minutes after inserting the suppository in her body.
Before we continue with the praise of this new product, readers should note that the U.S. FDA had not approved Foria Relief yet, neither has it undergone clinical trials. So far, the suppositories are only available in Colorado and California, and patients are required to present a medical marijuana card or a doctor’s letter to purchase them.
