Like most stock markets across Asia, the Taiwanese stock market ended the Monday trading session higher on news that the Chinese government had refrained from raising interest rates.
The Taiwan Capitalization Weighted Stock Index, or the TSEC weighted index, opened the Monday trading session in Taiwan at 8,748.64, which was slightly above the previous trading day's close of 8,718.83.
The TSEC weighted index spent the entire trading day in positive territory, ending the Monday trading session up 17.76 points, or 0.20%, at 8,736.59.
The TSEC weighted index traded between 8,736.54 and 8,764.51.

EWT, which seeks to provide investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance of publicly traded securities in the Taiwanese markets, as measured by the MSCI Taiwan index.
