Former Argentina Congressman Joins $740K Funding Round For Cannabis Producer BlueBerries

Latin American medicinal cannabis producer Blueberries Medical Corp. BBM BBRRF has closed a C$1 million ($740,000) non-brokered private placement offering, completed in the form of unsecured convertible debentures.

Among the investors was entrepreneur Facundo Garreton, a social impact leader and former member of congress in Argentina.

Garreton joined the cannabis industry earlier this year as both investor and strategic advisor for YVY Life Sciences.

“I am increasingly committed to this exciting industry,” Garreton told Benzinga. “Cannabis has significant therapeutic potential to solve various health problems.”

Regarding his active involvement in Blueberries, Garreton said: “They have an excellent team, an ideal place for the production of cannabis, and unique technology for extraction.”

This will allow for collaborations and synergies with other initiatives the Yale Global Fellow is involved in.

Garreton disclosed Blueberries and YVY will work together on various initiatives, both on the research front and the “cannabis productive value chain, to help many people with ailments and with natural and organic solutions. ”
