'Delivering Alpha' Has Been Known To Move Stocks

CNBC and Institutional Investor’s 2016 Delivering Conference kicks off today. The event brings together some of corporate’s most influential investors to weigh in on fiscal matters and share their investment strategies based on the recent and relevant market movement.

CNBC recently highlighted the movers from 2015.

Last year, Bill Miller, founder and CIO of LLM Investments, projected positive movement for Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN. And he was right, as the stock has jumped 72 percent in just two months.

Medivation Inc MDVN experienced a similar jump, as projected by founder of York Capital Jamie Dinan. However, Dinan didn't accurately access the generics business, which is down significantly from last year's conference.

Tom Sandell had high hopes for Ethan Allen ETH last conference. The stock is up 18 percent.

Bill Ackman continued to hold stock in Nomad Foods NOMD, which is down 7 percent. Jeff Smith mentioned his hopes for Macy’s Inc M, which is down nearly 40 percent.

Jeffrey Gundlach, founder of Doubleline Capital, announced he bought into Annaly Capital NLY, which he projected would drop significantly, but yield a higher rate given the stable borrowing cost. He also found confidence in its liquidity and pair trade with Puerto Rico.

Last year, Carl Icahn expressed confidence in Voltari VLTC, causing the stock's value to rise.
