In an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Mark Wahlberg showed support for the recently bankrupt Detroit.
Shot in Detroit, the new Transformers film is filled with talent. Michael Bay is the director, Steven Spielberg is the executive producer and Mark Wahlberg holds the lead role.
“Detroit is not what people think,” Wahlberg started. “My wife was terrified to come to Detroit... and I said, 'actually its really nice', and they came and had a blast. Detroit is a great, great city.”
Transformers 4 is set for filming in the heart of downtown just south of Grand Circus and the Tiger’s stadium.

Jimmy Fallon showed his support for the city, commenting on the art scene and giving a shout out Slows Bar-B-Q, one of Detroit’s favorite restaurants.
Since legislation to bring movie production to the state was put in place in 2008, Michigan has been a hot spot, giving hundreds of millions of dollars in incentives. The program has been controversial, with supporters citing job growth and investment in the state while opponents claim the state is spending too much money and having too big of an influence on the economy.
In 2011, Governor Snyder put a $25 million dollar cap on the incentives, claiming the government should not be picking winners and losers.
