iPhone 5S, Low-Cost iPhone Could Arrive In China By November 28

Apple's AAPL long-awaited iPhone 5S (and its cheap companion, the presumably titled iPhone 5C) might be slated for a late November launch in China. According to a CNET translation of a report by China's First Financial Daily, both of the new smartphones will be released in China on November 28. This could mean that Apple is decreasing the amount of time it takes for the company to launch its items in emerging markets. When the original iPhone 5 was first released on September 21, 2012, it was only available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. Several other territories were added on September 28, but Chinese consumers were not able to purchase the iPhone 5 before December 14. Assuming that Apple maintains its previous release structure (and brings the new iPhone to America on the same day it arrives in Japan), September 20 could be the day when it is released locally. At least one analyst believes that the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will set a new record for Apple as the company's most successful product launch. While Apple has not confirmed or denied that it will release a low-cost iPhone this year, Samsung SSNLF has been preparing several new phones to counter this move. Samsung may also release Galaxy Gear -- the firm's answer to Apple's unconfirmed iWatch -- in 2013. Even if Apple does not release the next iPhone on September 20, many industry insiders are convinced that the smartphone will arrive sometime next month.
