Sony Corp. SNE continued to backtrack from its decision to withdraw its comedy film depicting the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, according to multiple reports Wednesday.
Sony will rent the movie, titled “The Interview,” via its own site, along with Google Inc's GOOGL YouTube and Google Play store, according to unconfirmed reports.
A report on Re/Code said it's uncertain whether Sony will use its existing its Crackle streaming service or build a new site for streaming the film.

Sony, under criticism for halting plans to distribute the film because of threats from a group linked to North Korea, said Tuesday it would release the film on December 25 to a small number of theaters.
President Obama on Friday had called Sony's initial decision a mistake.
The New York Times called the film a "crude and poorly reviewed comedy."
In an analysis, the Times said revived distribution plans could mean that "this confrontation with the least predictable of the nine nations possessing nuclear weapons may not yet be over."
