Apple's 1st Watch Update Is Coming

Nearly a month after the release of Apple Inc’s AAPL brand new smartwatch product line, Apple Watch owners will soon be getting their first software and hardware updates. According to 9to5mac.com, a proven Apple source has indicated that the updates will address a range of aspects, including security, health and fitness features, third-party app integration and Apple TV connectivity.
Find My Watch
Apple Watch security has been a major concern for many potential buyers, and one part of the new update,“Find my Watch,” could ease some of the Apple Watch security fears. According to the source, the feature will allow users to track their watch’s location at all times and remotely wipe the device if it is lost or stolen. The feature is analogous to the Find my iPhone and Find my Mac features for Apple’s other devices.
Smart Leashing
Another new security feature that is reportedly on the way for Apple Watch users involves a concept called “Smart Leashing.” Since the Apple Watch will be heavily reliant on connectivity with its user’s iPhone, the watch will be able to give users a tap or other notice if a user’s iPhone gets left behind or is taken beyond a designated distance range away from the Apple Watch. According to the source, this feature may not be part of the next wave of updates but will likely be on the way in the future.
App integration
Finally, Apple has several app-related updates in the works. On the health and fitness front, Apple is hoping to add blood pressure, sleep tracking and blood sugar monitor capabilities to the Apple Watch in coming years.
In addition, Apple wants to make the Apple Watch the primary input device for the next generation of Apple TV, which will reportedly include heavy Siri integration and third-party app support. The new Apple TV box could be unveiled as soon as June.
