Reuters reported on Friday that the National Football League is looking to live-stream three games that are scheduled to take place in London next season. However, the league may need to make a difficult decision in choosing its partner to stream the match.
According to Reuters, both Apple Inc. AAPL and Alphabet Inc GOOG's Google are among the companies that are engaged in talks with the NFL for the rights to steam the games.
Reuters, citing "two sources familiar with the situation," noted that the NFL's live-stream match between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills in October was a success. The stream was powered by Yahoo! Inc. YHOO and marked the first time a technology company streamed a game to viewers for free.
Reuters continued that it is unclear if the NFL is looking to sell the streaming rights to all three games as a package or individually. What is however clear is that winning a partnership with the NFL would mark a "big victory," Reuters suggested.
Apple could stream the event through its Apple TV while Google could stream the event via YouTube.
