AMC Networks Inc AMCX's zombie apocalypse will live on.
Just a week after the network's "The Walking Dead" spin-off, "Fear The Walking Dead," returned to solid numbers, AMC has given the greenlight for a third season to air in 2017.
The move is not surprising given how important the overall brand is to AMC. Sunday's season two premiere returned to numbers very similar to when it left the air last October. While those numbers in the demo are down 37 percent from its record-breaking August premiere (and 34 percent in terms of total viewers) it's really not a fair comparison.
"Fear" is still the second-highest rated show on cable this season in the 18–49 demo, second only to the original. Including the Live+3 numbers, "Fear's" second season ended up with 8.8 million viewers and 5.3 million of those coming from the 18–49 group.
The third season, like the second one, will be comprised of two halves with a hiatus in between.
