Android Lovers, Rejoice: Windows May Be Coming To Your Chromebook

Android (Alphabet Inc GOOG GOOGL) users may soon see Windows (Microsoft Corporation MSFT) on their Chromebook, as CodeWeavers is testing a Android version of its product CrossOver, according to a report on Android Police. In other words, it may soon be possible to run Windows software on Android and Chromebooks.

CrossOver, which is based on the open source Wine project, is already available as a licensed product on Mac and Linux systems, allowing users to run Windows applications without virtual machines or dual boot.

The report said, "The addition of Android app support has allowed CodeWeavers to get the Android build of CrossOver working on a Chromebook to run Windows apps."

Android Police, citing CodeWeavers, said, "CrossOver has full support for DX9, keyboards, mice, and sound."
