Xiaomi Takes On Another Tech Behemoth With 2 New Launches

Chinese giant Xiaomi seems to be after all the big names in tech. Last year, the company took on GoPro Inc GPRO with an action camera that retailed at half the price of its U.S. competitor’s price.

Now, the firm is at it again with two new launches: an affordable ($225), yet very powerful smartphone that features an OLED display and a dual camera; and a laptop that has been said competes with Apple Inc. AAPL’s Macbook Air, but carries a price tag that starts at $540 for a 12.5-inch model, or $750 for a 13.3 inch model.

For the time being, the products will only be sold in China.

Under The Hood

Xiaomi’s Mi Notebook Air runs on Microsoft Corporation MSFT's Windows, and features an Intel Corporation INTC Core i5 Processor with 8GB DDR4 RAM, a 256GB PCIe SSD, an expandable SSD slot and an NVIDIA Corporation NVDA GeForce 940MX graphics card.
