Baltimore, MD (Vocus) April 20, 2010 -- Pevco, a leading provider of pneumatic tube delivery systems to the healthcare industry, today introduced a pneumatic tube station security door for its standard and compact stations which offer added security for high-value medical products and pharmaceuticals.

Hospital pneumatic tube systems are a critical element of hospital materials delivery. It's faster and more cost-effective than hospital couriers and more secure than other options. The pneumatic tube system delivers everything from blood-products to pharmaceuticals to lab specimens. Yet, when pneumatic tube stations are near public areas or high value pharmaceuticals are being transported, additional security may be necessary to ensure stations are not inappropriately accessed.

With a Pevco Security Door in place, hospital staff must enter an authorization code to release the lock and access the station's contents. If the door is not manually closed within 60 seconds, a programmable alarm rings as a reminder to close the door. When additional security is needed on a Swisslog™ or other non-Pevco station, a stand-alone door is available which operates independently of existing station controls through a door-mounted, 10-digit keypad.

Made of the same durable, powder-coated steel as Pevco's stations, the security door is built to withstand the most demanding environment. The clear, shatter-proof polycarbonate window is secure yet allows users to easily see when a carrier has arrived. For added security, an alarm is triggered if the door lock is ever forced open.
