This Sunday, March 27, Nintendo is slated to release the long-awaited Nintendo 3DS, the first handheld device that offers true 3D visuals without the need for cumbersome glasses.
Worldwide, pre-orders have been huge; Amazon's AMZN UK store recently reported that the Nintendo 3DS has already become its fastest-selling video game system. In Japan, the system was an instant sell-out at launch, pushing several hundred thousand units on the first day of release, followed by another massive sell-out in the following week.
But will its North American launch be strong enough to top Apple's AAPL huge sales of the iPad 2? We'll know soon enough.
